Matt slammed his door closed as he stormed into his room. He was so furious, so sad, so depressed, so angry, so enraged, so... alone. He was so confused. He looked around his room with so many emotions flowing through his head.
He then grabbed his pillow as he threw it will all his force across the room as it hit the wall and fell onto Shiro's bed. He gripped his hair as his fists tightened. He pulled his hair as he screamed. His lungs started to hurt as also his head. Once out of air, he fell to his knees and stopped. He let go of his hair as he held his stomach. Hot tears started to roll down his face as he looked at the floor. "Why?" He muttered as he started to sob. "Why did you have to leave us?" He curled onto the floor as he continued to sob. This was too hard for him to handle.
It's been three months. Three months of loneliness. Three months of confusion. Three months of torture. He wanted to crawl into a corner and let the days pass by... months... maybe even years... He couldn't handle this anymore. He just wanted to die...
Then he'd be with Katie again...
He had a pocket knife somewhere, but didn't exactly remember where is was. That would do it. He stood up as he wiped his tears. He then searched around his room. He finally found it in his dresser and sat down on his bed. He opened the knife as he looked at the shiny metal. He tilted it back and forth a bit as he watched the reflection of the light from the window. He then gripped it tightly in his right hand as his hands started to shake. He slowly moved the knife closer to the skin of his left forearm until it lightly touched it. He took a deep breath in as he closed his eyes. All he had to do now was to press down...
He was going to. He was going to kill himself, until he heard a knock. He dropped the knife on the floor and quickly scooted back against the wall next to the bed. He pulled his knees close to his chest.
"Matt?" He heard his father call through the door. He looked at his hands as they were still shaking. Why were they shaking so much?
His father called again, "Matt?" as he opened the door and looked in. Matt looked up at him as his face was still tear stained and red. His father sighed as he asked, "May I come in?"
Matt nodded. His father then walked in as he also had a leach that connected to the dog. The dog followed him as he sat on the bed next to Matt. His father looked at the dog as he said, "The dog wasn't suppose to replace Katie..."
Matt couldn't help but to feel otherwise, but he didn't say anything. He looked at his hands again as they were still shaking.
His father then looked at him as he said, "We got you the dog because you knew you need it. You're probably confused and depressed. You probably feel alone without Katie and your mother and I can see that. It's hard, especially for your age... so we wanted to give you something to help. The dog isn't perfect and will never replace Katie or the hole in your heart, but maybe he'll help you through what you're going through..." He then patted the space in between him and Matt as the dog jumped up and relaxed next to Matt.
His father petted the dog, then unhooked the leach. He took the leach with him as he walked out and left Matt in his room with the dog. Matt scratched behind the dog's ears and petted him. He then was curious as he checked the dog's name tag.
Gunther.
He smiled a bit as Gunther rested his head on Matt's lap. Matt stood up as he walked over to the other side of the room as he grabbed his pillow that he so furiously tossed across the room earlier. He placed it back on his bed, then knelt down and picked up the fallen pocket knife. He closed it as he placed it back in his dresser under his clothes. He walked back to his bed as he laid down. Gunther then crawled up next to him. Matt smiled a bit as tears started to fall down his face again. He hugged Gunther and soon fell asleep, for once with a faint smile on his face.
