I awoke, in what I assumed was the middle of the night since it was still completely dark and the tv was still on and playing reruns of friends. I looked over beside me to an empty side of the bed and the sheets thrown over as if someone had just jumped out of it.
I stepped out of bed and grabbed a blanket at the end of it and wrapped it around my body, exposing only my legs and a small bit of my chest. I headed towards the door, turning and pulling the door knob towards me and stepped out of the room.
I heard shouting. Not just argumentative shouting but furious shouting as if someone could easily snap, a voice I was too familiar with. I made my way down the hallway and towards the staircase before easily makes strides down them to keep anyone from hearing me.
"You don't give a damn about anyone else but yourself and that is never going to change!"
"How dare you speak to me that way? I am your mother and you will not speak to me in that manor!"
"Give me a fucking break, mom. You haven't given a crap about me since the divorce. All you ever have time for is stupid John!"
I peaked my head a little off the staircase to catch a glimpse of what was happening between them.
Drew's mom lay on the couch as Drew stood over her with a stern look on his face.
"You will not refer to John that way, do you understand me?" She demanded, standing up from the couch as Drew rolled his eyes.
"I am your mother and I love you so much but I will not be talked to in this way and I will not allow you to speak about my boyfriend in this way in my house,"
He laughed, creating a smile across his face.
"Remember when it used to be our house? You, Colby and I and no one else. That was when it was easier and when times were simpler. That was when you were still a loving, caring mom who gave a damn about me,"
"Don't say that," she pleaded.
"Why not? It's true. I've been here for almost a week now and I don't really have any time left for me to spend with you and all you've done was party and go out with your friends and John," he began, "you haven't once asked me about school or about Cam or how I'm doing. It's like you don't even care anymore and you know what I'm done. I'm done trying with you because it gets me absolutely no where and I'm sick of it," he said before turning back and speeding to the stairs.
I turned and darted up the stairs, quietly sneaking back into the room and taking a seat on the bed. Drew entered the room with a forced smile on his face, frantically searching for something.
"What's going on?" I asked, confusion present on my face.
"Do you wanna go somewhere with me?" He almost demanded rather than asked.
"Yeah, sure. Where?"
"I'm not sure yet but I'll tell you when I figure it out," he replied, stepping into the bathroom with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.
I stood from the bed and searched in my suitcase for a change of clothes before throwing on a pair of ripped, skinny jeans and a Victoria secret pink hoodie.
