Chapter Twenty-Nine

"Colby? What the hell are you dong here?" Drew asked.

"Do you know this guy?" Zach asked, grabbing her hand and pulling them together.

"This is my brother," Colby stated, rather confused.

"Shit. Of course, it is," Zach laughed.

"Who is this?" Drew asked her.

"This," she smiled, wrapping her arms around Zach's waist, "Is my boyfriend,"

A look of shock came across my face, "God, this is weird,"

"Oh no no no no. You're not dating him! Hell no!" Drew started to scream as my eyes immediately shot back to him.

"Drew. Calm down," I stated, before his hand broke my grip and flew up into the air.

"No!" he screamed, "I'm not gonna calm down when my baby sister is dating some guy who is obviously abusive!"

"Wow!" Zach yelled at Drew from across the room.

"Drew! Calm down!" I repleated, this time in a yell.

Drew turned to face me, his expression turning a cold, stiff look of anger and began to yell, his voice becoming deep the way all guys do when they yell. I felt a grip wrap around my wrist and pull me aside as Drew stepped forward to Zach.

"Are you okay?" Austin asked, his eyes sincere as he moved my body behind his.

Drew approached Zach to which Colby gave him a rough shove against his chest causing him to grab a hold of her wrists and pulled her towards him.

"Get your damn hands off of me, Drew," Colby yelled, gripping onto Zach's arms.

"No! I'm not gonna let you be with this guy!" he shouted so loud that people began to flood into the room, "Are you insane or just stupid?"

I'd never seen Drew act this way and I didn't like it. It made me nervous and made something stir inside my chest. I knew that Drew could snap but I hadn't ever seen it happen before and watching him now was like watching a completely different person than tthe one that I'd been with all this time.

It took me a minute of watching Drew and Colby argue to realize that my fingers were laced with Austin's. I quickly pulled away and watched as he motioned back at me. It felt different looking into his eyes now. There was so much pain visible in both of ours.

"You're the idiot here, Drew!" Colby screamed, snapping me back into focus.

"Oh really?" he laughed, "And how exactly is that?"

"Don't play stupid, Drew!" she spat, "I know that you've been talking to Isla again. I'm not gonna let you screw around on one of my friends and hurt her! Now tell her!"

"Tell me what?" I asked, stepping in front of Austin.

Drew and Colby stared at me before Drew took a deep breath and began towards me.

"Cam, listen to me," he began, "It isn't what it sounds like,"

"Oh so it's not about you talking to your ex-fiancè?" I laughed, sounding more annoyed than humored.

"Cam,"

"No, seriously. Tell me. What exactly have you been doing talking to her?" I stated, my expression standing firm.

"We've just talked a couple times about how we've been and stuff,"

"Tell her about when you met up with her," Collby stated.

"You met up with her?" I asked, trying to fight the tears back.

"It was one time and nothing happened," he began to plead as Colby laughed from behind him.

"Okay," he sighed, "there was one kiss,"

"What?" I almost screamed, my hair falling into my face.

"It didn't mean anything! You have to believe me! You're the one that I want to be with Cam!"

"No! You know what? Shut up," I yelled, briefly pausing, "I am so sick of guys and being so dependent on you. I'm so sick of being hurt by the people that I love and having them screw me over in the end. So you know what? I'm gonna do what I just saw my friend do. I am done with this and getting hurt by all of you,"

Drew's jaw clenched along with Austin's as I stood in the middle of them.

"So what does this mean?" Drew muttered under his breath.

"It means that we are," I paused "done."

"Cam," he began.

"I need time to figure all of this out. I need time to regain my independence and to figure out what I want to do with my life and I just need to learn how to be myself again. In the words of Amanda, I choose me. I choose me," I spoke standing still as everyone else in the room had their eyes glued on me.
