This. Was. Amazing.

You finally finished your schooling at Star Fleet Academy! Years of hard work and basically suffering. Truthfully, you loved every second of it. Tests after tests, quizzes after quizzes, studying after studying. It was all enough to drive someone insane. All of it had ended, and you were placed in your group that was to be sent to your new Starship/home. The best thing...you were assigned onto the Enterprise. The Enterprise!

You were currently on the way to Yorktown by shuttlecraft. You've heard of Yorktown's advanced beauty, but you have never seen it in person. On your free time youd usually try to think of life if there were no technical advances. Boring, hard, stupid.....

Those were the only words that you could use to explain it. No secret. You loved technology. Whether it be a simple robot used to make your bed every morning to a gigantic star ship that is used to travel the entire universe. You loved it all!

The faces sitting around you on the same shuttlecraft seemed to have the same hopes and dreams. You had seen most of them at the academy, but now noticing how little you actually conversed with them. Your thinking was interrupted with how...quiet it was.

Only the sudden coughing of random people broke the silent, but only for about two seconds. You excitement was suddenly cut off. Even the slight movement of an arm or leg was loud enough to make you jump. You were confused. Yes, we were about to head into the part of our life full of rules, regulations, and seriousness, but why isn't everyone conversing or talking about what their first journeys may be like.

The silence was finally broken by the sound of a pep talker. Or at least that is what you called him. He stood up with an obvious forced smile. His brown shaved hair looked in need to be cut again for it was on the verge of covering his head once more.

"Well!" he clapped his hands together that caught the final members attention.

"Don't look so happy recruits." He gestured and mocked us for our complete silence.

"Come on now! Cheer up! If anything, be happy that you are now official members of Star Fleet!"

His little speech was followed by the "Woo!" of a single crew member. This action recieved the giggles of a few others.

Everyone focused back on the front of the craft to see him gesturing to another person to 'come closer'.

"Dammit! Why would you bring me on another one of these damned shuttle coffins?" This came from the mouth of a semi-tall man with a blue shirt for the Science or Medical section of Star fleet. His dark brown hair was not only a mess, but seemed to be groomed and straight some how. He was carrying a med kit in a bag type case that was strapped around his shoulder.

"Because doctor, it so happens that this years recruits seemed to be composed of mostly medical students. We were hoping you could give them some..um...special advice!"

The man, now learned to be a doctor, had an annoyed and exasperated look on his face. He pinched his nose for a second then looked at the crowd.

"Don't die. Don't get hurt. Ya now why? Because guess who will have to deal with you?" He stuck out his thumb to point at him self with a comedic smile across his face.

"That person be me. Good ol' doc is s'pose to take care of ya, but when doc doesn't get any break, you might be suffering from a disease called 'may I please get another doctor, this one seems cranky' syndrome. That is the nastiest thing in the world!"

He moved his eye brows up and down quickly with a smile on his face like an old cartoon character who just saw the most beautiful doll ever.

This got at least ten out of the thirty people on the shuttle to start cracking up laughing (including you).

The doctor had a look of triumph because of the laughter he caused. He acted as if he never gets anyone to laugh.

We all felt a jolt as the Shuttle landed on ground. The doctor fell to his knees with his hands together.

"Thank the lord! My death is not coming today!" said the doctor, obviously making it more dramatic...or not? You were not too sure.

"Oh doc, it wasn't that bad."

"Say that for your self son! I'd rather live longer!"

All the members stood and formed a line that rapped around the seats. A slight 'woosh' as the doors opened revealed the bright light of the newest addition to Star Fleet.

Yorktown.
