{{Basically a McCoy chapter}}

The 'water' on the planet was freezing.
It left your frozen in place as the air collided with your soaked clothes and made it frigid.
You were horrified at what you had just witnessed, you could only imagine what Bones was going through, since he knew Spock for so much longer than you did.
Paying attention was not one of the things on your agenda.
You continued walking forward, not really knowing where you were going. Just...walking.
                              Walking away from danger.
                              Walking away from fear.
Walking away from the man you love.

                              "Y/N."
                              "Y/N?"
                              "Y/N!"
"Snap out of it, champ or you'll in to something."
You stopped in your tracks at the sound of Bones voice. You turned around to meet his eyes.
You immediately fell to the ground. You were cold, scared, angry, and you were sad beyond words comprehension.
                              "Champ!"
Bones rushed to your side, holding you up so you wouldn't fall completely onto the ground. He hugged you tightly so you wouldn't do anything stupid.
                              "I know Champ..."
"We are never going to see him again...its true...isn't it?"
He pulled away so he could look at you. He rubbed his face with his hand as to wipe away the shock...it didnt work.
"I...Champ...Y/N, I will tell you my honest to god opinion. No matter how hard it is to get anything done with him, I think that will not be the last time we see that Vulcan. I promise you."
He hugged you one last time before he pulled both of you up from the ground.
"Champ...lets just...we need to get out of the range of this barrier so we can contact the ship, but we need to be quick about it. If there is any chance Spock is being kept alive somewhere, it may not be a long time."
He grabbed your hand and pulled you along so you wouldn't stop in thought.
You couldn't stop thinking of Spock no matter what, but you were also noticing how good of a friend Bones was. Most people only saw the grumpy side of him. Always being a pessimist was his thing. His bed side manners may not be the best, but when it came to something like this...he was probably the best person to be around.
One of the two suns was beginning to set. The once bright sky was only half lit now for the lack of the suns partner in the sky. It was lonely. One sun is not the same.
Suns are like hearts. The sky is like life.
Two heart make life bright and happy...but when a heart leaves...the others life grows dim and meaningless.
You were always addicted to poetic thoughts about things that may seem normal.
You thought what you would do if you didn't have Bones as a friend.
Knowing that he was the thing keeping you going about seeing Spock taken away, you figured that if he wasn't here...you would be broken. Even more broken that is.
                              "Bones..."
                              "Ya, Champ?"
He was using your nickname. He was using a voice that sounded calm and happy. He was standing with what looked like joy or content. It was a cover-up. He knew that if he broke now, neither of you would get off the planet. Neither of you could help each other. Neither of you could help Spock.
"I...was wondering...I know you arent skilled in helping with this kind of thing, but I know now that you are the person I would want to ask this question to."
                              "Go ahead, Champ."
"I...what would someone need to do when they lose someone dear to them...that is assuming they died or...will not come back?"
                              "Champ?"
                              "Or..."
                              "Spock right?"
You looked up as Bones. He had stopped to pay attention to you. His hand was still holding yours. He had a sympathetic look on his face. You weren't surprised that he found out. Everyone could probably tell if Spock treated someone else differently from the rest.
                              "Yeah..."
He smiled through his frown slightly.
"I figured...You know...I lost someone else as well. We had gotten divorced and she took. I didnt miss her...but the feeling of losing everything was...less then enjoyable."
He had started walking again, pulling you along as he talked.
You looked up to see the side of his face. He was focused on the ground in front of him.
He was set on getting out of here.
He was set on saving you, Spock, the team...anyone he could. It was just his job...right?
The stone doctor with a glass half empty kind of personality.
Something was under his exterior. Something more sad. Something that was more done putting on him then just a divorce.
                              "Bones?"
                              "Champ?"
"There is something more to your story...I can tell."
"What are you getting that at Champ?"
"You are hiding something from yourself and everyone else. Aren't you?"
                              "Champ..."
You realized what you were saying.
"Oh, Bones. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ask something like that."
You walked in silence for a minute.
Bones sighed quite loudly as if he were preparing himself for something.
Bones slowed until he was standing right next to you. He let go of you hand so he could put his arm over your shoulders.
You noticed how much of an old-fashioned friend he was, but he was almost like a father-figure as well.
                              "I lost my father."
He paused just in case the topic was too much for you to handle right now. When you didn't say anything, he continued.
"He had a illness that gave him an unbearable amount of pain. He... asked me to pull his plug."
                              "Bones....."
"As far as anyone knew...his illness was incurable...Then...not long after, they found a cure... A damn cure..."
You didnt say anything. His story was way too awful for a simple 'sorry' to be enough.
"Do you regret it? Ending it for him, I mean."
"I...I dont know, Champ. Ive been asking myself that question for longer then you could believe."
                              "Oh..."
"All I can say Champ is...is if Spock doesnt come back, I will personally kick his Vulcan mind back to Vulcan myself."
You laughed. You were surprised you did at a time like this. This was just another example of the reason Bones is an amazing doctor.
