Landing Party for One -2-

Everyone walked out. Shielding their eyes from the sudden brightness outside of the shuttle craft. The pep man slapped the doctor on the back hard enough that he himself jumped. He knew he hit too hard, you could tell the little bit of shock on his face, but he quickly dismissed it and continued.

"So doctor, do you like being on the ground?" He said this while making a crying baby face while putting his fists to his eyes.

The doctor looked back at him with a scolding look.

"No, I might say this is almost as bad! Its like a damn Snow globe about to break into a million pieces!" He threw up his hands in a fit of rage.

The pep man laughed and threw his hands onto his own stomach to show his dramatic reaction.

"Either way doctor, you'll be back on your ship soon enough. Oh Ya!" he turned to us now.

"The whole reason we are here is so that we could test out the docking system with an actual ship. We thought that since the Enterprise had to pick up its new recruits anyway, we mine as well make it pick you all up here to kill two birds with one stone!" He clapped his hands together. He was about to start another pep talk, probably about manners or something, but he was interrupted by a sudden, deeper, voice.

"Might I ask, why would you want to kill two birds? Let alone with a stone." We all turned to look at who the speaker was, beside the doctor who  pinched his nose and shook his head. This man was taller, much taller. He was wearing a blue shirt like the doctor and stood straight with his hands behind his back. Shinny, basically perfect, black hair sat on top of his head.

The man turned to look at the doctor.

"Are you under high distress, doctor?"

As he turned his head slightly you noticed something different from any other human. Pointy ears! Right in your view! He didn't look like a Romulan, so he could only be one other thing...

a Vulcan!

You had never seen a Vulcan before. Your mouth dropped a little, and before you noticed yourself, The Vulcan looked at you with your surprised expression. He raised up his eyebrow a little, still keeping eye contact with you. You quickly turned away and fiddled with your shirt. You looked back up to noticed he was not looking at you any more.

He continued to speak to the doctor. He seemed like he knew him in some way.

The pep talker stood back in front of us with the doctor and the vulcan behind him.

"Ok, recruits!" he claps his hands once again, "This here, if you didnt catch his name, is Mr. Leonard McCoy. He is the most trustworthy doctor I think you will ever meet." You obviously could see he was a bit of a suck up. "Over to my left is Mr. Spock. He is probably the most important Science office you will ever meet. Smart too!" He gestured to the Vulcan called Spock.

Spock did not move an inch. he was like a cold statue that was just placed so none of the color had worn away yet.

At this point, everyone wished that he would just stop talking.

"Well, I guess you guys have nothing else to do. So, I guess you can converse or just hang out until The Enterprise comes rolling in because this will be the closest thing to a relaxing time you will have in a long time." He squinted his eyes and had a smile as if to worn us in the form of a joke. He raised his hand as to let us disperse.

Everyone moved in order to find their friends that they had met during the years at the academy.

You of course did not see any of your friends because they all were sent to different ships.

Instead, you went to sit on the edge of a futuristic water fountain to read your newly bought book called 'Bones in the Sand'. You weren't lonely, knowing you would find more friends on your new home/ship. The happiness of starting a new book washed over you. The new settings, characters, etc.

You were interrupted by a large shadow standing over you. You looked up. The sun behind made the figure look dark but glowing until your eyes adjusted.

It was Mr. Spock.
