You woke up this morning bright and early. Something about the near-death experience, while for some would've been awful, almost made you happy. Now, you wouldn't say dying is on your bucket list, but experiencing death that close had been the biggest thrill of your life.
You kept on replaying that moment all day...but the one thing that always stuck out was when Spock pulled you up. His closeness was odd, but it didn't feel odd.
You kept trying to place Spock in the back of your mind, but he kept on coming back. At some point you stopped trying to fight it, but that wasn't a good idea either. You started to imagine 'what if' scenarios.
'What if Spock had bright pink hair?"
'What if Spock was in a dress?'
'What if Spock liked you?'
The last one you found funny enough to where you laughed a little outside of your mind.
"Whats so funny, huh? I want to know too."
Then you realized that you were pondering so much that not only had you forgot the job you were doing, but you forgot your friend was standing right there as well.
"Oh, nothing. Im just thinking to myself...about...things."
"Uh huh, sure."
Your shift was almost complete when you heard a knock at the door.
It was a man in a red engineering shirt.
"Hello, sorry, Im just to give this to you, lieutenant."
He placed a small box in front of you. As you were about to open it, the man almost backed away from it.
"Eh...your going to want to be careful with whatever that thing is..."
You looked up at the man and dismissed him, he seemed happy you did, and you went back to the box.
Now, you were kind of afraid to open it.
What 'thing' in here could be as dangerous as the man was leading it on to be?
You slowly open the box from the top, making sure your actual body was backed away a few steps, and your arms were stretched out in front of you.
As you opened it, you closed your eyes to see if anything would jump out and attack...but nothing did.
You stepped closer to it and saw...a piece of paper?
"What in the hell?"
Your friend was now standing next to you, instead of in the corner.
You picked it up and read the cover.
"From: Kirky
To: Y/N"
By now, you were probably the most confused person on this entire ship.
You opened it up to find nothing but....so much glitter...
The card had basically been filled with a whole thing of glitter. As you opened it, it all poured out onto your uniform. The glitter stuck out like a sore thumb against your black pants.
"God, what the-"
You were cut off by you friend bursting into laughter. She was practically lying on the floor while trying to avoid the extra glitter. You looked back down to see that there were actual words inside, which was what you were hoping to find in a letter anyways.
'Dear Y/N,
This is my first time making a card by myself. Please don't make fun of it, it took me a long time.Don't change into anything else because that would be pointless. I mean, its not like anything spilled on you.'
At this point you placed the letter back into the box, and sent that into the depths of hell....or just the trash can.
"Well I guess that means you will have to go to the party in...what ever that is."
She started laughing again as she looked at your outfit.
You rolled you eyes and started to stomp out of here. As you had been planning to, you started to walk to the captains lounge.
As you were walking down one of the many passage ways, the last person that you would want seeing you like this started walking down. It was Spock.
He looked at you once, but he didnt say anything. As you both passed each other, you let out a sigh of relief...that was untill someone grabbed onto your shoulder and turned you around.
"Miss Y/N...may I question why you are covered in, what looks to be, a lot of glitter?"
"Oh, Spock, I uh- you see the Captain played a prank on me and did this."
"The Captain threw glitter on you?"
He raised his eyebrow in disbelief.
"Well not in person, but yes. In a letter."
"I dont understand why, but why haven't you changed into a different uniform?"
At this point, you had been consciously trying to brush off some of the glitter, but to no avail.
"Ah well, the Captain wants me to go to his party wearing it. You know, to be humorous."
"I see no humor in throwing glitter at someone like you."
"Oh no, Spock its fine! Anyways, I would need to wear it anyways. I mean, he is the Captain, and he did order me to wear it."
"Thats true, but on my behalf, I would like you to go change."
"Mister Spock, I have no problem with wearing...what ever this is. Also, I would want to refrain from getting in trouble with the Captain."
Spock still had his hand on your shoulder, but quickly removed it when he noticed.
"Believe me, Jim will not get angry at something like that. If you do get in trouble, which is highly illogical if you do, just blame me. For I am the one who doesn't want you to make a fool out of yourself."
"Thank you, Mister Spock. I owe you one."
"No, believe you own me nothing, Y/N."
You both went your separate ways. As you were now heading to your quarters, you starting pondering the odd conversation that just occurred. You made a little list of things that stuck out.
1. Kirk is an ass
2. Spock referred to you as 'Someone like you'
3. He seemed worried on your behalf
4. He just called you by you name at the end
You walked in you room and looked in the mirror. The glitter had been worse than you thought. Replacing the clothes would be easy, but replacing your glitter covered hands would be the hard part. You looked up and noticed something odd. You were blushing like crazy.
What could've happened that would've made you blush a dark shade of red? You were hoping that Spock didn't see you blush. Maybe he would've thought you were blushing because of him...But...maybe you were blushing because of him.
