Tell The World I'm Coming Home

It was Thursday, the day Roman came home...also, it was the day I was coming back home.

I thought it was long overdue, plus he had asked me months ago, so why not tonight?

Plus, I was making it extra special. Roman's mom is coming by to pick up the girls, and I'll have the house all to myself to surprise when he comes back here to get his clothes.

I had talked to him right when he had was getting on his plane, so he'd probably be landing in Chicago in about four hours or so.

I was anxious and excited and a little scared all at the same time. We hadn't...done anything...in a long time and I was hoping he would still be impressed with what I had.

I still had some baby weight, but I knew he didn't care about that.

I had Penelope about two months ago, so baby weight came with the territory. I'm sure he'd be very understanding of that. I mean, I wasn't a whale or anything big like that.

The doorbell rang and I went to the door. "Shelby! It's so nice to see you!"

"Oh my gosh, you're looking so good!"

"Thank you," she hugged me before I let her in and took her into the living room where the girls were. "Penny is sleep right now, but she'll probably wake up in the next twenty minutes, give or take a few minutes."

"And what about Ms. London?"

"Oh, she's fine, she's eaten her lunch so she'll be ready for her nap in about an hour."

"Okay." she winked at London as she grabbed her hand.

"I'm serious, London, you better take your nap."

"I will, Mommy."

That wasn't too convincing, but since I wasn't the one taking care of her tonight, I didn't care. I just knew London got super cranky when she didn't take a nap and it made it ten times harder to put her to bed for the night.

"Alright, I love you, see you tomorrow, be good for Grandma."

"Love you, Mommy."

I kissed her cheeks and grabbed Penelope's car seat she was already in. We walked out to the car and London got in the backseat and I went on the other side and strapped Penny in.

"Thank you so much, Shelby."

"I haven't seen these babies since Penelope was born, so I want to keep them, it's no burden."

"Alright, well, I'll see you tomorrow then. I'll call you when I'm on my way to get them."

"Sounds great, honey. Have a great night, I'm sure you have some things planned for my son." she winked and for a second there I was uncomfortable, "I'm just joking! Have a good night."

"You too, Shelby."

I went back inside and flopped down onto the couch because I had a lot of work to do and a lot of candles to light.

It was weird how much I had planned this out.

The rose petals, the dinner, the candles, the small gift...I went all out, just to tell my husband I was coming back home. We'd probably laugh about this in the morning and he'd tell me he loved it, but I didn't have to do all of that for him.

I got up and got to work. I was making his favorite, salmon with broccoli, asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes.

While that was cooking I started putting everything around the house how I wanted. I thought it would be romantic if it was dark everywhere except for candles. That would be romantic, right?
