Obligations

"Mommy, we live here now?" London asked.

"Yeah, baby girl, we live here." I grabbed her and sat her on the counter in the kitchen, "We're going to live here until Daddy asks us to come home."

"I miss Daddy."

"He'll be here right when you wake up from your nap." her eyes widened and she tried to fight me, but I got her in bed soon after that. "When you wake up, Daddy will be here, okay?"

She nodded and turned onto her side so she could sleep comfortably. London had a love/hate relationship with her naps. She loved to sleep, but she hated actually going to sleep. It was a weird combination, but we made it work.

I called Roman yesterday and asked him to bring over a few things that we were missing. We needed more clothes and stuff, and he agreed to bring another suitcase full of everything.

Yesterday when I signed the lease to the condo, I felt kind of bad because I had a perfectly nice home I could stay in...but I wasn't ready for that yet.

I needed to get out of there with Ada, but home wasn't the right place for London and I yet. Everything wasn't fully okay, so this was our best option.

We were about ten minutes away from where our real house is, and about five minutes from Ada, so we were on a nice side of town. The lady showed me this condo and I fell in love with the view of the city and the home-like feel to it.

I figured whenever we moved back into our house, we could keep the condo as a small getaway place.

I heard a knock on the door and I jumped up from the small table I had bought for the kitchen. "Hey." I smiled lightly and opened the door for him a little more.

"Oh, this is nicer than I thought it would be." He sat the suitcase down in the small hallway before walking into the main area, which was huge, "You've outdone yourself, Chase, this is really nice."

"I saw it and I just had to have it."

"How much is the rent each month?"

"$1,200, but I talked the lady down to just $900 a month."

He looked surprised, "That's a lot, don't you think?"

"Yeah, it is, but I'd rather pay that than feel like a burden at Ada's house for another day." That was an easy way to bring up what happened, "I'm sorry for snapping at you like that yesterday morning, it was really--"

"It's okay, I know--"

"It's not okay, not even a little okay." he looked at me curiously, "What happened between us is between me and you and it should stay that way. No matter how much I value her opinion, it shouldn't deter me from doing what I want, so I'm sorry for that."

"It's okay, I promise."

There was a small stare down of us just smiling at each other, "Can I hug you? Just a really simple hug?"

"Do you really have to ask?"

He came closer and pulled me into a big bear hug. "Why do you smell like perfume?"

"Oh, I was with Savannah before I came here."

I sort of pulled away so I could see his face, "Who's Savannah?"

"My new manager...I told you about her last week."

"Oh, okay, why did you have to meet with her?"

"To get my schedule for this week. She wanted to sit down and have breakfast, but I had other obligations."

"Would one of those obligations be me?"
