Save Me

Disneyland was a lot bigger than I expected.

I kept holding on to Penny's stroller as though it was going to get away from me somehow and she'd get lost. This park was way too big to be losing a baby.

"Blue or pink?"

"Blue!" the lady handed me a big tub of cotton candy, and I quickly opened it to get a piece, "Oh, my God, this is heaven."

Phil paid the lady and we started walking towards another ride, "When was the last time you had some cotton candy?"

"Its been a really long time."

I stopped and started to panic when I didn't see London. I turned around and she was having the time of her life on top of Roman's shoulders.

"When was the last time you went on a rollercoaster ride?"

"Probably senior year when I went to Six Flags with the rest of my class." Phil gasped and grabbed my hand and started pulling me over to the biggest rollercoaster I had seen in Disneyland, "What are we doing? Are we going on this?"

"Duh! Come on!"

"I have a baby--"

"And a husband standing right there, come on!"'

I sighed and turned around to him, "Roman, can you watch Penny while I go on this ride with Phil?"

"Yeah, I'll watch her."

I sort of smiled at him and left the stroller with him. Amy had gotten tired, so she agreed to go on the submarine ride with Aiden so she could sit down. So, it was just me and Phil, running to the line to get on my first rollercoaster ride in about ten years.

"Okay, so this one is called Space Mountain. You probably went on here when you came, but knowing you, you don't remember."

"I don't remember anything, honestly. I was too busy trying not to get kidnapped."

"You have to stop being so scary all the time. Have some fun."

"I promise, this trip will be scare-free. I will get on any ride...as long as someone else is with me."

We laughed, and the line moved quicker than I thought it would. I heard a few people gasp and try to contain their excitement, and a few seconds later Roman was coming up to us.

"Penny and London are with Ada...just saying."

I stared at him for a few seconds, trying my hardest to figure out his motive for coming up here. "Thanks for telling me."

"No problem, so what were you guys talking about?"

"Nothing, just how your wife hasn't been on a rollercoaster since she was an infant." Phil laughed, "Why don't you guys ever go anywhere fun? You have to make time for something fun like this, right?"

"We do a lot of fun things, just in our area in Chicago."

"Dude, I'm from Chicago, and I can tell you right now, it's no place fun there. You need something like Disneyland, or Vegas, or even--"

"Your fun might be a little different than our fun." I looked up at him and he looked dead serious as the line kept moving forward, "We love trips like this, but it's not something we need all the time, especially with the kids."

"Don't you think kids are an excuse to go places like this and have fun?"

"When you have kids of your own, you'll understand."

"Okay, so," I didn't want their little tiff to go any further, "let's just be glad we're here now."

We all got to the front of the line and got on the ride. I rode with Phil and Roman rode with some lady that was with two other people that rode together.
