The Wife Dilemma

He left...he actually left.

I watched him pack, and every now and then he'd look up at me with a small smile like that would make everything okay, but it never did.

London was taking it way better than I was, but she was a kid, and she didn't know the history behind this. She didn't know that her father  was choosing his job over us, and she didn't know what that meant. I wish I could tell her, but she wouldn't understand.

I decided that I was serious about us not being there when he got back, so Ada let us temporarily move into her house for a while. I wanted to go to a hotel, but she insisted we stay since Dean wasn't there with her either.

Ada always tried to get me to talk about him, but I wouldn't. Just the thought of him brought me to tears, and I honestly was tired of crying. If he called, I cried. If he text me, I cried. If I heard his name, I freaking cried. What was wrong with me?

Three Days Ago:

I played with London on the floor, smiling and laughing with her because her laugh was contagious. She was the light when everything else was dark, so I loved our bonding moments.

"Mommy, I'm hungry." she had stopped playing with her dolls and stood up from where we were sitting down on the floor. "Waffles?"

"No waffles, it's almost time for bed." I checked the time and it was almost nine, which meant it was actually past her bedtime. "Okay, let's get you a banana, then it's time for bed."

I stood up and she grabbed my hand as we went into the kitchen together. I picked her up and sat her down on the counter, just because we always did that.

I stood there with her while she ate her banana, and when she was done, I grabbed her and we went upstairs. We passed Ada's room on the way to the guest bedroom London and I slept in and I heard her on the phone.

London jumped in bed, already in her pajamas, and patted for me to lay down with her. I laughed at my little girl and happily got into the bed next to her and turned on the TV to something she could fall asleep to.

I got comfortable and the minute I saw that London was asleep, I started to drift off.

Not even a minute later, my phone started to blast with a familiar ringtone. I groaned and turned over to reach for it and I answered. "Hello?"

"Chase?"

"Yes, Roman?"

"Were you sleep? Did I wake you up?"

"Uh," I wanted to tell him the truth, but if I did, he'd hang up. I wanted to hear his voice, "no, I just put London to bed."

"Oh, okay, good. I almost didn't call because I thought it was too late." there was a small pause, "How have you been? We didn't talk when London called me earlier today."

"Yeah, she was dying to talk to you, so I pressed the numbers and let her have the phone."

"She seems happy." Another pause, "How are you?"

"Fine."

"Are you? Or are you just saying that? You've said that you've been fine ever since I've been gone."

"I'm fine, I promise."

He heard him sigh, "I'll be home in a few days--"

"I know."

"We can talk--"

"I'm tired of talking, Roman. I'm just so tired of it."

"Babe...we have to talk at some point. We can't just--"
