"Hello."
She looked up from her work and smiled, "Hello, Mrs. Reigns, I've been waiting on you."
She walked in, closing the door behind her, shaking her hand.
"Now, what's this all about? Something important?"
"Um, can we sit down?"
Stephanie walked back around her desk and took a seat, "Makes me think this is serious."
"It is."
She wasn't supposed to be here. Not talking to his boss or sitting in the chair across from her either. She wasn't sure how her husband would take this, but she felt like she had to do something.
"I just want to talk to you about Roman's schedule."
Stephanie gave a confused look, "His schedule?"
She took a second to get her thoughts together. "I know I'm not the first wife to complain about her husband's schedule, and this isn't me complaining, so please don't think that."
"This sounds bad."
"It's not as bad as I'm making it sound, but I'm nervous because Roman doesn't exactly know that I'm here right now."
His boss sat back in her chair, crossing her arms over her chest, "And by that I'm going to assume you mean he doesn't know at all."
She nooded her head slighty. "I love seeing him so happy out there in the ring and I see the look on all those kids' faces when they see him. He loves it here so much, but I love when he's home too."
"We love having him here."
"And I love that you love him here because I'd hate for him to be somewhere where he wasn't wanted--"
"Mrs. Reigns, what exatly do you need?" She became scared to ask her for anything. She was the boss. She wasn't a friend you could easily ask a favor from, she was the head honcho of a well known entertainment company. How could you just ask someone like that something like this?
"I'm going to tell you something really personal, just to fill you in on how crazy my situation is right now, okay?"
"Okay."
"When I met Roman I was a teacher at an elementary school about forty-five minutes from our home in Chicago. I was single, of course, and when we started dating he was everything that I needed. I'm sure you know that feeling, considering you've been married for so long."
Stephanie nodded her head, "All married couples feel it at some point."
"All married couples get into huge fights too, and well, our last one ended really badly, and I sort of made him choose between me and his job." Chase was talking so fast she couldn't hear herself thinking, "But before that, I moved out a few times, I gave him divorce papers, and after that he asked me what he could do to--"
"Whoa, wait a second." Stephanie had a grin on her face, placing her hand over her mouth to keep from letting out the laughter.
"What's funny?" she wasn't trying to be rude, or come off any type of way, but the question lingered in her mind.
"You jumped from meeting him to giving him divorce papers." she giggled, "Please, back up a bit for me."
"Oh, okay. Well, it seemed to me like work meant more to him than I did. He's always so happy at work, you know? To me, if he volunteered for a live show, that was him choosing your company over coming home to his family. It's been his job even before we were married and had kids, but I didn't seem to notice until I was putting my little girl to bed alone."
