Chapter 117

Niall

I try to hide my nervousness and take a deep breath. Just be calm and act like your normal self, I think, before I knock on the door of Preston's room. I hope he's not with David, since that could make the stealing a lot more complicated. David likes to watch us and every single move we do.

Before my hand can touch the door, Preston taps with his finger on my shoulder.

"Niall? Are you looking for me?" I hear him asking. I turn around and look up. He's still a bit scary, that big, very big man in front of me.

"Yes. I just wanted to say hi and ask you about tomorrow." I lie.

"Then come in." He shoves me to the side and opens the door with his key card.

Good thing is, that David isn't with Preston. So my plan might work. It's actually pretty simple. I just have to find the car keys and then I can go upstairs and meet up with the boys. I don't want to show up too late at Kelsey's place since I have no clue when she'll go to bed or when she has to be at school tomorrow.

As soon as we're in the room, Preston hangs his jacket over a chair and gestures me to follow him inside.

"Just close the door behind you. I'll be right back, have to go for a wee." He announces and I do what I'm told. Maybe I'm a lucky Nialler today and the car keys are in the pockets of his jacket. That would be a miracle, the word luck wouldn't be enough in that case. As soon as David is in the bathroom, I quickly hurry over to the chair and I dip into the pockets of the coat.

"Oh my .." I look at what I'm holding in my hands. The car keys. Thank the lord in heaven. I pray that this, all of this won't come out and we won't get into trouble. Imagine Simon firing us because of me and my idea, and Kelsey.

"So what do you want to know about tomorrow?" David is coming out of the bathroom and I once again turn around before hiding my hands with the keys in it behind me back. Just act normal, I think, and let my body plop onto the chair.

"What's on the agenda and what are you up to tonight?" I want to know if he is going to stay at the hotel, or if he is planning on going out. Imagine him needing the car later and it isn't in the garage anymore.

"Nothing. Going to call the family and having an early night. Why? Oh and you should ask David. I only know we're going to Birmingham and then drive to Wales." He answers and I give him a nod. I actually don't care about tomorrow but good to know that we're going to Wales.

"Okay thanks. We were just wondering. We might order pizza so do you.. ehm want pizza?" What if he says yes? Then I've got a problem. A massive problem.

"Thanks for the offer but not in the mood for pizza." Preston has no idea how relieved I am the second those words come out of his mouth.

I get up from the chair and quickly put my hands in the pockets of my jeans before David can spot the car keys. I should leave now since the boys most likely are already waiting in front of my room.

"Well have a good night then, mate. See you in the morning." I give him a heads up and walk toward the door.

"Night, Niall. Go to bed early, it's going to be a long day tomorrow." Poor Preston. He has no idea what's going on and what the boys and I are about to do.

When I close the door behind me I run as fast as can. My heart is pounding and I feel like I'm going to faint any second. I feel horrible for lying to Preston but I just had to do it. Kelsey and maybe seeing her is way more important than Preston and what he might think of me.
