Chapter 149

Kelsey POV

The rest of the day is boring. I spend hours in bed, watching random TV shows and drink tea and more tea. Deb and Nate come home around four, checking on me quickly before heading downstairs again. I guess I'm not a great company. I keep thinking about my mum and when would be the best time to visit her and I still have to talk to Deb about it. And to Niall because maybe he can make time and come with me. I don't want to go and see my mum all by myself. I think it's better if someone is with me, someone I trust, someone who can keep me calm. I close my laptop and throw the bed clothes away before getting up. Maybe talking to Deb now is a good idea? I'm kind of scared how she'll react and everything.

I open the door and close it behind me once I'm stood in the hallway. I'm still wearing my pyjamas and haven't even showered. I'm so gross, it's disgusting.

"Kelsey.. hi.. I made a new friend today." Nate comes running out of his room and hugs me from behind.

"You did? What's his name?" I ask, placing my hands over his.

"His? Her name is Sophie. She is new in town. She's got a cat and a dog."

"Is it just me or do you only have female friends?" I laugh.

"Girls are so much nicer. The boys always pick on me." Nate whines and lets go of me.

"They pick on you? Well I might have to pay you a visit in pre-school so I can tell them to stop doing that." I turn around and look at Nate. He has his eyes darted to the floor and I can tell he is very upset.

"Nah it's okay." He ensures me before looking up and into my eyes. "I've got Sophie now so all good." A smile appears on his face and he seems happier again.

"Okay..but if anything's wrong you let me know, okay?" I go down so Nate and I are on the same height.

"Will do. Oh Sophie's got a big brother." He smirks and quickly hugs me before running back to his room and closing the door behind me. I can only look after him, not knowing what do with that bit of new information about Sophie and her big brother.

Better not even think about it, I tell myself and shake my head. That girl's "big" brother is probably twelve. Ew. And I have Niall. And the only one I want is Niall. So who cares about that twelve year old kid? I don't.

I walk downstairs but can't find Deb anywhere. I walk into the kitchen, check the living-room and even the basement. No Deb.

I when I'm about to stop looking for her, the doorbell is ringing. Maybe she locked herself out? I don't hesitate for a second and walk towards the front door, not remembering what I'm actually wearing. The person who rang the bell isn't Deb. It's Jack. What a surprise.

"What do you want?" I bark and then cross my arms in front of my chest.

"Whoa.. calm down. I just came to check on you since you weren't at school today." He rolls his eyes and takes a step forward. I have not invited him in.

"You didn't care yesterday so why do you care today?" I ask, taking a step back.

"Because. What are you wearing by the way?" He looks at my outfit and then back at my face again. Shit. Pyjamas. I am still wearing my freaking pyjamas. Jack starts laughing when he sees my shocked and slightly embarrassed expression on my face.

"Sorry.. Can I come in?" He doesn't wait for an answer but walks straight past me. Great. I'm not really in the mood to talk to him right now.

"Actually I was about to say that can't come in but whatever." I shut the front door and turn around. He is not there anymore. What the heck? Did he already run upstairs to my room? When I hear Nate giggling and talking I know where to find Jack. He is unbelievable, seriously.
