Chapter 146

Kelsey

When I enter the classroom the next morning, there's no sign of Emily. Her seat is vacant and to be honest, I doubt she'll show up. I guess she had a long, a very long night, other than me. Not being bothered by other students staring at me weirdly, I walk over to my seat and sit down. I'm still pretty sure I made the right decision by not going to the party, I definitely wouldn't have been home before early in the morning. Just when I'm about to pull my books out of my bag, Emily comes walking into the room. What a surprise. And oh dear she looks horrible. Even though she is still quite far away from me, I can see dark circles under her eyes and there's no hint of make up on her face. I have to look away because otherwise, I might have to start giggling.

"Morning. Don't say anything." She furrows her eyebrows together before letting her head fall onto the desk in front of us.

"I wouldn't dare." I give her a wink and then carefully pat her back.

"Good because I just woke up. Mum made me go to school. She was very mean." My friend whines but doesn't look up. Sorry but I don't feel any pity for her, just amusement. She should have gone out for dinner with me.

I don't say anything but keep my mouth shut. It doesn't take long until our maths teacher walks into the classroom and starts with the algebra. Yes. Nice start to the day.

About a half our in, Emily pokes her elbow into my left side. "Hey." She whispers.

"What's up?" I give her a confused look and turn my head back to the front. I don't want to get busted. I definitely can't use any drama in school.

"Here." The slides a small piece of paper into my direction. She can't be serious? What the heck is going on?

I'm very curious on what kind of note she has sent me and what is so important that can't wait until the class is over. I wait a few seconds to make sure that our teacher doesn't have his eyes on me, before I look down and read.

*Have you heard anything from Jack??? x*

Okay. I wonder if I have troubles reading the words but when I look over them again, they are still the same. I haven't really thought about Jack the past few hours because I was busy thinking about Niall and more Niall and so on.

I grab one of the pens laying in front of me and quickly scribble something on the paper.

*No.*

When Emily checks what I've written I hear a sigh coming from her. I wonder what's up. Have I missed out on something? Now that I think about, I decide to talk to Jack later during lunch. He'll probably act as if haven't even had a fight.

The next couple of hours till lunch like a lifetime. Every once in a while, I check on Emily and yes every single time she has her head placed on the desk in front of us and I could swear I can hear a little bit of snoring coming from her direction.

Once the bell signalises that the class is over and it's time to get something between the teeth, my friend doesn't hesitate a second before jumping up from her chair.

"I'm hungry. Let's go." I have no time to say anything in reply since she grabs me by the arm immediately and drags me out of the classroom. She must be extremely hungry.

Jack is already sitting on our table, stuffing his mouth with a cheeseburger, I assume. When Emily and I are stood right in front of him, he doesn't even look at me. Apparently, I'm not worthy to get a hello and for sure not a how are you. Great, he's still mad at me. He is worse than a girl. Yes he is worse than me.
