Chapter 141
Kelsey
Once dinner is over, I don't spend much time with Nate and Deb like I usually do but instead head back upstairs to my room.
"I'm going to bed." I announce and get up from the chair.
"But it's not even time for bed yet." Nate looks at me, raising one eyebrow and crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"I know little man, but I'm old and tired." I laugh and give him a quick hug. I don't have much time for smalltalk right now. In fact, there's a reason I want to be alone as soon as possible. I want to check my phone because I hope that Niall has tried to call me again. And yes I might want to talk to him because I already miss him, like crazy. I had no idea that yesterday and this morning would turn out like both did.
"Okay." He snorts. "Goodnight, granny. " He rolls his eyes and frees himself out of my arms.
"Night, Deb. See you tomorrow." I grab my plate and my glass and carry both into the kitchen before putting them into the dishwasher.
"Have a good night, Kelsey. And try to get some sleep. You look tired." Deb laughs. Oh dear, I bet I look like hell, dark circles under my eyes for sure. It's all Niall's fault, though.
"Will do. Bye." I call after me before I take two stairs at a time and seconds later I open the door to my bedroom. Everything looks the same like it did yesterday. My room, you can say, is a mess. Why do I always throw all my clothes onto the floor when I can't decide what to wear. "Tomorrow, I'm gonna clean up." I say to myself and close the door behind me. Just when I turn on the light, I notice that something deep down in my bag is vibrating before going silent shortly afterwards and then starting to buzz again. Someone is calling me. Please don't let it be Jack, I think, and then dig into the bag to pull out my phone.
Niall.
Niall is calling me. Now.
"Hi." My voice is shaky and I could slap myself for being so ridiculously nervous. There's actually no reason for it. It's not like we haven't had a conversation over the phone before. In fact, there was a time we did not nothing else than texting and calling each other.
"You okay? Is everything okay? You don't sound like you're okay?" Niall is speaking so fast that I can barely keep track on what he is saying. "Kelsey, fuck..are you okay?" He is practically shouting.
"Yeah I'm fine. Everything is okay. Why shouldn't it be?" I laugh slightly at his silliness and yes mine.
"I tried to call you and then your phone was shut off and then I called you again and no one answered." He is now a bit more relaxed and doesn't sound as worried as he just had a few seconds ago.
"Yeah forgot to turn it on again. I'm home now. We had dinner and I'm going to bed soon. Tired." I yawn. It's not like I've slept all the way back from London.
"Yeah same goes for me. I could fall asleep right away. And good that at least one of us had dinner. The boys ordered pizza and Louis left me only one small slice." Niall whines and sounds upset. I have to laugh, actually. I can picture Niall coming into the kitchen and all the pizza is gone. "Poor Horan." I cover my mouth with my hand, hoping he won't hear my amusement.
"I can hear you making fun of me, Kelsey. You don't have to hide it."
"I'm sorry but it's just too funny. And yeah I'm allowed to laugh because you laughed this morning when I fell in the shower." Oh god it was beyond embarrassing. I think I've never felt so ashamed, ever.
"It was a great moment, you have to admit that." I can tell he has a big smirk plastered across his face right now. If I could I would punch him.
"Yeah maybe it was a great moment for you but definitely not for me. Thank you again for not helping me to get up." I let myself fall onto the bed, face first. Where's a hole I can jump into and never get out of it again?
