Chapter 131

Kelsey

I'm shaking when I step in front of the mirror to take a look at myself. And what I see isn't bad, at all. My hair is put back into a ponytail and my make-up is absolutely perfect, thanks to Deb. The clutch I'm holding in my hands matches perfectly to my black dress that is cropped out just above my stomach. The fact that it's quite short and exposes maybe a bit too much doesn't bother me the tiniest bit. I just hope Niall likes it and doesn't think it looks too cheap. I love that it shows off a bit of my cleavage and that the upper part looks like some kind of a bikini top.

"You look lovely." I haven't noticed Deb walking into my room.

"Thank you. You really think so or are you just saying that to make me feel less nervous?" I half-laugh. I turn around and look at Deb to make sure she isn't lying at me.

"Give me a second." She says and leaves the room to come back two minutes later. I wonder what she is up to.

"Here. I've got something for you." She hands me a pair of the most beautiful high-heels I've ever seen. "I think they match better than the shoes we bought at the shopping centre." She gives me a warm smile.

"Promise me to bring them back. Your dad bought them for me and.." She wipes a tear away that is falling off her cheek.

"I know he would love you to wear them."

I look at her and take a step forward to close the distance between her and I, before I swing my arms around her neck and pull her into a tight, a very tight hug.

"Thank you, Deb." I whisper into her ear. "I love you." I say and mean it. There's not enough words how much she means to me and how glad I am to be part of her life.

"I love you, too. I feel like you're my daughter. But you have to promise me something." She frees herself out of my grip to look at me.

"What is it?" I nervously bite my lip. All this serious talk is way too much for me.

"Talk to your mum. I know she did horrible things but one day it will be too late." Deb places a kiss on my cheek and then leaves the room, probably to give me some space, probably to let me think about what she has just said. I don't want to have anything to do with my mum anymore but maybe Deb is right. Maybe I should indeed talk to my mum but I still need some time.

I put the shoes down onto the floor and notice that they are from Yves Saint Laurent. The must have cost a fortune. I carefully slip them on and yes it does feel like I'm walking over clouds. Heaven.

I don't have much time left before Jack comes to pick me up. I've already packed a small bag, since we agreed on staying at a hotel. I don't want him to drive all the way back in the middle of the night and I'm pretty sure he wants to have a drink or two.

I take one last look in the mirror before I walk back into the bathroom to put on some jewellery as in my new bracelet, a pair of earrings and a ring. After that, my outfit is completed. I cannot wait to make Niall jealous and I do hope he likes how I look tonight.

The doorbell signalises me that Jack has arrived. I hear Nate running down the stairs to open the door for Jack and already a couple of seconds later, Jack and Nate are fooling around. I quickly grab all the items needed as well as my coat and make my way downstairs.

"Are you trying to kill Niall?" Jack laughs and I notice his eyes wandering from my head down to my feet.

"Maybe." I wink at Jack and give him a quick hug.

"Have fun and promise me to take care and more importantly an eye on her, Jack." Deb warns my friend.

"Will do. Promised. Let's go now." Jack pulls me by the arm and drags me through the door and out of the house.
