"Mom, I'll be fine being alone for a week. Plus, you said it might be cut short," I explained.
"Yes, I'll unpack the dishes, spoons, forks, and knifes don't worry- yes and the frames." My mom and I had recently moved.
My mom got transferred here and well her first month at her new job and she's already gone for a business trip. For this week she's going to Hawaii and I'm not too happy about it.
She's going to the most relaxing place on the planet. I'm jealous of her job, not gonna lie. I'm stuck here unpacking everything.
But to be honest, I kinda like her new job it gives me a chance to throw parties even though I barley moved, I'm pretty sure I can make friends quick. That's if my antisocial ass can say 'hi' to a couple of people.
I started to unpack the dishes. I picked the perfect cabinets for the plates and bowls and a separate one for all the cups and wine glasses.
The front door bell rang causing me to furrow my brows. Who could that be?
"Hey, I'm Cameron." A girl greeted once I opened the door. She's got a plate in her hands.
"Uh, hi. My name is Y/n." I smiled at her and she chuckled.
"As weird as this is umm... my mom made you guys brownies." She offered the plate and I quickly grabbed it.
"Wow, that's so nice of her. She didn't have to though. Plus, i'm all alone. It's just me and mom." I shrug. "But i'm sure they'll be gone soon." I chuckle.
"Do you maybe wanna come in?" I asked and she glanced next door.
"Yeah." She returned her gaze back to me. I opened the door more wide for her to come in.
"Wow, your place is better than mine." She said looking around as we walked in further.
"Umm... it's empty so there's really nothing to see." I said chuckling.
"No, like you have more space than us," she said laughing softly.
"Oh. Yeah, that is true. It's much bigger than our old place back home." I nod and lead the way to the kitchen.
I placed the brownies on the island. "So, how do you feel about Jersey so far?" She asked
"Well, it's beautiful and that's all I got to say. I can't really get to see the rest because my mom isn't home. I mean I can go out, but I'm scared i'll get lost," I giggle.
Cameron chuckled. "What does your mom do?"
"She's a journalist and she's gone for the week. She's in Hawaii," I sigh and her jaw drops. "Yeah, but what sucks is she's never home."
"My parents too. My mom is the principal at our high school, but she comes home late almost everyday." She rolls her eyes. "But I guess being a principal isn't an easy job. Although telling people what to do would be fun. And it's funny how she always has to give detentions to her own sons, idiots." She laughs.
"Sons?" I question.
"Oh yeah, my brothers Ethan and Grayson they're so annoying," she said sighing. "It was nice meeting you, but I have to get back. I was doing chores and well mom just asked to bring you the brownies." We both head towards the front door.
