July 15, 9pm:
Back to Basic, that's what you reminded me earlier when you handed me your gift for our 2nd anniversary to remind me to just be cool and relax sometimes.
Just last night, I told you how I feared of having to disappoint you at one point in the future because what I can give you then may not be better than the last one.
"Hindi mangyayari yun. Siguro yun nga talaga ang struggle ng tao noh? Kasi the more we have, the more we want. Yung may isang bagay kang inasam dati na hindi makuha-kuha tapos pag nakuha mo na, gusto mo ng mas pa doon." You said then you looked at me. "Let's not do that. Pag dumadating tayo sa point na parang sobra na itong hinahangad natin sa kung ano ang dapat and we fear na baka we might not meet each other's expectations, let's remind each other that we should go back to basics. Dun sa simple. Dun sa kontento. Dun sa masaya. Kasi ganoon naman ang love di ba? Simple. Kuntento. Masaya." You smiled and held my hand.
"When we feel like maingay na ang demands ng mundo, let's go back to the foundation of this relationship. Ikaw at Ako. Tayong dalawa."
I sighed and stared deep into your eyes. "Ikaw at Ako. Tayong dalawa."
That's how it's going to be, Love, from now until forever because every day is a renewed opportunity in life and every day, we'll start over and go back to you and me.
So, I drive to Batangas after our rehearsals, with no major plans, no big bouquet, just three stems of red roses, no expensive gifts or jewelry, no grand surprise and fireworks. Just me.
It's almost midnight when I get to the resort, I call you and start a basic conversation.
"Hello, Love. Happy ka?"
"Happy. Sobra. Ikaw, Love?" You ask.
"Sobra-sobrang happy. Kumain ka na ba?" I smile as I walk to your cabana.
"Kaka-dinner lang namin. Ikaw? Kanina pa tapos rehearsals niyo. Kumain ka ha? May nakaluto naman sa ref, initin mo na lang. Tuloy ka ba dito bukas after ng play?" You ask and I stifle a chuckle because you have no idea I am now standing below the terrace of the cabana, watching your silhouette on the windows.
"Wala namang ref dito."
"Anong wala. Wala ka pa ba sa bahay?"
"Wala. May pinuntahan ako."
"Ha? Saan? Sino? Sabi mo kanina you're going home." You ask, your starting to sound irritated.
"I am, Love. Pinuntahan ko ang babaeng pinakamamahal ko." I say.
"Ano? Don't tell me..." You finish that sentence by running to the window and looking out of it.
"Happy 2nd Anniversary." I smile and meet your gaze.
I see you put your hand on your mouth and hear you gasp then the sniffles. "Anong ginagawa mo dito? Sabi mo bukas pa." You wipe the first tears that flowed.
"Sa tingin mo, kakayanin kong sumalubong ng anniversary nang malayo sa'yo?"
"Malay ko." You pout.
"Ano ba, Menggay?! Siyempre hindi! July 16 is just another date on my calendar kung wala ka. God gave you to me on that day and my whole life changed for the better. I was blessed with so much since then, found true happiness, experienced so many new beautiful things and felt unconditional love. Dahil sa'yo yun, Nicomaine." I tell you solemnly then your sniffles turn to sobs. "Halaaaah... Umiyak."
I run up the stairs the same time you leave the window. I just got to the door when you open it and immediately sweep you off the floor into my arms as we meet in a warm embrace. I take a couple of steps inside and close the door behind me before a long and passionate kiss with you.
"I love you, Mrs. Faulkerson. Happy 2nd." I whisper on your lips as you look up at me with a smile and I run my fingers through your silky hair. My other hand still holding the roses as I support your back.
"Happy 2nd, Love. I love you more." You whisper back as you lock your hands over my nape and rest your feet on my toes.
I shake my head and smile. "Not possible. I love you more and more and more and more."
You kiss me again deep and slow.
"Oo nga pala. Flowers for you, Love." I smile and show you the three roses.
"Wow. Thank you, Love." You say as you admire the simple bouquet.
"Back to basics di ba? Kaya simple muna. Ako at itong flowers lang ang dala ko dito." I grin.
"And you're all I need." You smile. "Ako nga wala man lang kahit ano dito para sa'yo." You look at me sheepishly and bite your lip.
"Anong wala?" I smirk. "Meron ka din naman ditong flower. Isang peyborit step naman diyan." I say wiggling my eyebrows.
"Yun lang pala." You say as you step down from my feet.
You grind your hips and roll your body as one slender hand runs your your thigh and buttocks while you stare at me seductively.
I hold my breath in a suspended gasp as I watch your move your body until you finish the step.
"Okay ba? Isa pa?" You ask after.
"Isa pa. Dun naman sa kama. Let's go!" I grin and you giggle as I carry you to bed. 💛🍃
