September 28, 2017:
I quietly sit in a corner, sipping water from my tumbler, as I watch you stand there on the cushioned floor under a giant hoop that's hanging in the air.
Your eyebrows slightly furrow and you purse your lips, showing that darned dimple that always make my knees weak, as you listen to the instructions given to you.
You nod to say you got the directions given to you then glance my way, your eyes sparkling with mirth and excitement. I feel an overwhelming giddiness inside me especially when you smile and wink before grabbing the hoop. You pull yourself up, your bulging firm biceps straining, the muscles on your chest and shoulders stretching as you push your hands down to lift your feet off the ground.
Now, with your body at the center of the hoop, your hand pressing down and gripping steel, your muscles well-defined through your tight shirt as they work to keep you up, your toes neatly pointed as you push your legs apart and an intense expression on your face; you, my love, may very well be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
You are a most glorious vision, an Adonis on a perch, an angel before my very eyes.
You then turn to gaze at me with a little smile on your lips, your eyes glimmering with pride and searching for my validation. I smile back at you reassuringly even though inside, my heart skips a few beats.
I still wonder to this day, how I ever deserved to catch your eye. It still baffles me to think that an angel, a vision, a demi-god like you could fall for an average girl like me but you did and US happened. This happened. Our life together happened and I hope this US will continue to happen for all eternity.
"Your turn, Love." You grin as you come down from the hoop and walk over to me.
"Jusko! Kaya ko ba to?" I ask.
You hold my hands in each of yours and smile at me. "Kayang-kaya mo yan. Maning-mani lang yan kumpara sa pagsabit mo sa kawayan at pagtapon-tapon sa iyo na parang manika."
We both laugh at that. You then pull me to a side-hug and kiss my temple, softly whispering, "You got this, my queen. I love you."
In your arms, in that little haven you created for me, in those few seconds, I start to believe that I can.
Like so many times before, you are there to support me, encourage me, have faith in me, love me and because of that love, I start to believe in myself.
I have come so far from the girl who stood on the EB stage for the first time in 2015, who thought the only talent she has was to do 252 facial expressions and dubsmash, who could have never imagined singing and/or dancing onstage in front of a live audience and who was terrified to death on her first Dabarkads goal stint where she had to climb up some high ladders.
Now, I feel like I can do anything because I now have a constant source of strength and courage. I now have you. You, my family and everyone who truly cares for me, have pushed me way beyond the limits that I have set for myself.
I nod my head and look up to you. "I got this. Thank you." I mumble. "I love you more."
With another kiss on my forehead, you let me go and watch me walk to the hoop.
I tilt my head up to look at it then turn to gaze at you. You smile and I feel that with that smile... With you, I can nail this air dance thing and just maybe conquer the world. 💛🍃
