Grey Eyed Savior

XXXI. Expect the unexpected.

I feel my eyes open to a white ceiling. My body aches everywhere. 

"Adam," I rasp as I look around the room. "Avery, your awake," a nurse says as she walks in.

"Adam," I say louder as I frantically look around. "Ms. Struman, I'm going to need you to calm down," she says as she walks towards me. "I need Adam, wheres Adam," I cry as I start to sit up, ignoring the pain that courses through my body.

I get out of the bed and pull all of the needles out of my skin. "Get back in bed Avery," the nurse says as she walks toward me. I walk past her and start to run down the hall.

"Stop her!" The nurse yells as faces turn toward me. "Adam, what room is he in, please," I beg as I'm pulled into the arms of a doctor.

"I got her Charlotte, you go and help your other patients," he says as he walks me toward a door. "Where are you taking me, please, I need him please," I say as he continues to walk.

He opens the door to a room as I wiggle in his arms. I look around the room, and my eyes land on Adam laying on the bed with his eyes trained on the tv.

"Adam," I sob as I run towards him. "Oh my god Avery," he says as he opens his arms.

I fall onto the floor by his bed, feeling the pain in my chest as I sob. I feel the doctor as he lifts me onto Adams bed. "Thank you," he says as the doctor leaves.

"I'm ok love," he says as he hugs me. I continue to sob as the pain sores through my body. "It's ok sweetheart, we're ok," he says as I feel tears fall onto my neck.

I look up into his eyes and freeze. He has cuts all over him. "Oh my god," I whimper as my hand rests on his cheek. I feel a tear on my hand as it rolls down his cheek.

"I'm so sorry sweetheart," he says as more tears fall. "I didn't see him coming. Oh my god Avery I'm so sorry," he says as he starts to sob.

I pull his head toward my chest and run my hands through his hair. "It's ok Adam, we're ok," I say as I hold him in my arms.
