I wake up to the sun shining through the window. I look over and see Adams still fast asleep. I take the opportunity and trace his face with my eyes.
He really is gorgeous. His jawline is perfectly lined with stubble, making his face the perfect shape. His lips plump and beautiful. He has a small dimple in his right cheek, that I want so bad to touch. As my hand reaches out to touch his cheek, his hand shoots out, scaring me.
"Good morning sweetheart," Adams says with his hand still holding my wrist. "Morning," i squeak out, feeling my cheeks flush with embarrassment.
"What were you planning on doing with this cute little hand of yours" he says as his eyes slowly open. "Umm... I-I," I look away, embarrassed because I can't form words.
He releases my wrist, grabbing my chin to make me look at him. "It's fine sweetheart," he lets out a chuckle as he wraps his arms around me, pulling me towards him.
I feel his chin rest on my head as he holds me. "Did you sleep ok?" I ask as I breath him in. He takes a second to answer.
"Yea, actually, I did," he says, slowly releasing me.
"I'm gonna go see when we can get you home, ok?" He says as he gets up, stretching his arms up, causing his shirt to rise. Mmmm, he looks- what am I thinking?!
"Like what you see," he says.
"Uh," I clear my throat," sorry, what were you saying?" I ask as I look into his eyes. He just shakes his head with a smile on his face, and walks out he door.
I lay on my back and let out a breath. What is wrong with me. I'm in the hospital, and will be on bed rest for at least 2 weeks. I don't even remember the last time I've had a shower. Oh no, i hope I don't smell.
I hear the door open, as well as two sets of footsteps.
"Hello Ms.Struman, it seems as though you will be going home today." She say as Adam walks in and sits next to me. "When is that exactly?" I ask as I sit up.
"Well, I would like to take one last look at you and if everything's good, you should be free to go home." She says with a smile. "Ok, that seems fair," I say as she walks over and begins examining me.
We're almost finished, when she asks me to show her my stomach. I look up at her, feeling slightly scared.
"I just need to see it to make sure it's healed enough for you to go home. If it needs any attention while your not here, I'm going to need to give you the information you need so you don't need another surgery," she says as she gives me a stern look.
Adam reaches for my hand and squeezes it, silently telling me it's going to be ok. It's not that it's bad or anything, it's just, I don't like seeing it.
I nod my head and look away as she raises the gown slowly.
She examines the incision and puts the gown back down.
"It's look like you still have a little bruising and the wound may still be sore, but other than that you should be good to go. Also, since you had such a traumatic brain injury, there could be slight PTSD, and you could have dizziness, drowsiness, hot flashes, nausea, and mood swings, but you may not get all the symptoms," she say as she looks at Adam.
"Ok," I say in a whisper. "Everything's going to be fine Avery," she says, giving me a sympathetic smile. "I mean, you do have this sweet boy to help, right?" She asks, eyeing Adam.
"Of course she does," Adam says, squeezing my hand once again.
"Ok, so I brought you some clothes to change into," she says as she sets them down on the bed. "If you need help with anything, I'll be outside," she says, walking out.
"I'm going home," I say looking at Adam, with a smile on your face. "Your going home," he says, smiling back at me.
