I wake up to pain soaring through my stomach. I open my eyes to see Adam sitting in a chair next to the bed, his hands in his hair. I try to move and let out a small moan as I feel my head pound.
"Woah, easy love," Adam says as he gently lays me back down. "What happened?" I say quietly and cough, feeling my throat burn as I talk.
I remember everything, I just don't understand. "Who were those people?" I ask as I try to sit up again. "Sweetheart you need to lay down and rest," Adam instructs as he stands up and makes his way into the bed next to me.
He lays on his side facing me. I can't really move to see him so I just lay still. I groan in frustration. "I'm sorry love," Adam says as he moves so I can see his face. I look at his face, seeing the dark circles under his eyes.
"You should get some sleep Adam," I say as I try to push him to lay down. "Don't worry about me, it's you who needs the rest. You were just shot love," he says as he lays down. "I know but I can't help it. I'm worried about you," I pout as I lift my hand up.
He laces his fingers with mine, kissing the back of my hand. Adams phone starts to ring and he picks it up off the night stand.
"Hello?" I hear the other person on the phone. "Yea just a sec," Adam says, handing me the phone. I look at him in confusion as I put the phone to my ear.
"Hello?" "Hey," I hear Jake say. "How are you doing," he asks, I can hear the concern in his voice. "It's a bitch. I can't move for nothing and Adam won't sleep. I feel like a baby," I groan again and let out a loud breathe.
I hear Adam chuckle beside me as I continue to pout. "You should get some sleep Av," Jake says, making me smile at my nickname. "Yea yea," I giggle before saying goodbye and throwing Adams phone on the bed.
"Hey, don't get mad at my phone. It did nothing to you," he says and I can hear the smirk in his voice. "Here," he says as I feels his hands on my back. I breathe in a deep breath as I feel pain in my stomach.
"Wait," I breathe out, putting my hands on his arms. I catch my breathe and nod my head, ready to move again. He slowly helps me up and pulls me into a gentle embrace.
"Ahh, so much better," I smile as I hold onto Adam. "I'm tired," I say as I yawn into Adams chest. "We should get some sleep," he says as he helps me lay back down. I start to pout again because I know I won't be able to cuddle up to him tonight.
"It's gonna be fine love, it's just until your wound heals a little more," he chuckles as he runs his hand through my hair. "I'm glad you're here Adam," I say, smiling to myself as I drift into a blissful sleep.
