Adams POV

"Fuck," I hear Jake say under his breath as we're sat outside Avery's room. "Fuck," he says a little louder, now standing up.

"Hey," I say as I grab his arm, stopping him from doing something stupid. "What are we gonna do Adam? How are you so calm after what just happened?" "I'm not," I whisper as I put my head between my knees and try to keep the tears that are building up in my eyes in.

"Shit," Jake says as he sits back down beside me and lays his head against the wall. "We'll figure this out, I know we will. But for right now we need to get Avery out of here." I look over at him in surprise, my eyebrows creased.

"Why?" I ask, confusion lacing my voice. "She's not stable enough to talk to the police. She just needs to rest and then we'll help her talk to the cops," he says, making a valid point.

"Maybe I can talk the nurse into letting her go under our care," I say as I get up and walk into Avery's room. I let my eyes rake over her body and take a deep breath.

"May I help you?" The nurse asks as she puts a hand on my shoulder. I jump under her touch.

"Sorry. Uh y-yea I have a question," I say as I turn to face her. She gives me a sympathetic smile as she nods her head, silently telling me to continue. "Do you think we could make an arrangement?" I ask as I look over at Avery.

"You want to take her home, don't you?" She says, her voice quiet. "Please, she can't talk to the police in her state. I know how that looks but she's been through so much and I thought that maybe we could-" "yes." I'm caught off by her one word answer.

"Yes?" I ask, confusion clear in my voice. "You can take her home, but only if you can watch her and I'll pay daily visits until she is better and I'll try to get the police off your guys back," she says as she walks over to Avery and checks her vitals.

"Yes." I whisper and stand frozen, surprised it actually worked.
