I must have fallen asleep because when I open my eyes, I can hear Adam singing quietly as he holds me.
I feel our legs tangled together at the bottom of the couch. Adams hands are running up and down my bare back do to my shirt rising slightly. I just lay there, trying not to move so I don't feel anymore pain.
Even just breathing hurts.
I close my eyes again and think about my life, how Adam has changed it.
I get the sudden feeling that I have to sneeze. As I feel the tingling sensation move through my nose, I clutch Adams shirt. When I sneeze, my body tightens, causing pain to go through my veins.
Adams hold tightens around me as a tear falls out of my eye. He doesn't say anything, just continues to hold me.
"Adam," I say barely over a whisper. He hums in response as his hands go up. "What were you like. As a child," I say as I cuddle to him. He chuckles.
"Ouch," I say as his chest moves me. "Sorry," he says as he puts his chin on my head. "I was reckless," he says. "My mom said I was always getting into trouble." I look up at him slowly.
"Seems like you," I say as I put my head back down. "I have to pee," Adam says suddenly. I produce a laugh, but it comes out more like a hiccup as I stop in the middle, feeling pain surge through my stomach.
"Here," I say as I release him slowly. "Careful love," he says as he releases me. He gets up slowly, trying his best not to move me.
As he walks toward the bathroom, I pick up a cracker and slowly take a bite. This isn't so bad. I slowly sit up so I can take a drink of the water by my side.
"I see your eating," Adam says as he sits beside me, putting a hand on my back. I nod my head and finish off the cracker, taking small bites. I take one last sip of water and lay back down.
Adam turns the tv back on and sits under my head. As I'm watching the screen, I feel Adams breath even out. He must have fallen asleep. I don't blame him, he's been taking care of me.
I stay in his lap for what seems like hours, watching the tv, to scared to go to sleep.
I feel Adam move from under me. "Why are you awake," he asks as I move so I can look up at him. "Couldn't sleep," I lie as I face the tv again. "Don't lie to me sweetheart. What's going on in that pretty little head of yours," he says as he turns me back toward him.
"Nothin I just couldn't sleep," I say as I look into his eyes. "I know you're lying love," he says as he moves some hair from my face. "But I'll let it pass this once," he says as he lifts me up gently.
"What are you doing?" I ask as I wrap my arms around him. "I'm taking you upstairs so you can rest. I have a computer up here if you want to watch Netflix or something," he says as he lays me on the bed. "Thanks," I say as I cover up.
He puts the computer on the bed and goes to walk out. "Where are you going," I ask, a little worried. "I'll be back love, don't worry about me too much," he says as he closes the door.
I lay on the bed with a sigh. I turn on the computer and go to Netflix. I turn on supernatural of course and start to watch.
After a few hours, I start to hear some noises like someone's trying to get into the house. I pause supernatural and move the covers off of me, going to stand up.
I walk towards the door, opening it slowly and peeking out.
I see a dark figure holding a flashlight, looking around before he points the light in my direction. I quickly close the door and lock it.
I rush towards the stand next to the bed where my phone lays. I look through my contacts for someone to call when Adams name pops up. He must have put it on there.
I click his name with shaky hands as I hear the noises downstairs stop, and footsteps on the stairs.
"Hello?" Adam says on the other line, breathing heavy. "Adam," I say in a shaky voice, breaking at the end. "Are you home?" I ask, wondering if possibly the guy could be him.
"No, I went to the gym. Why? What's going on love?" He asks as I hear the door handle jiggle. "Someone's in the house," I whisper as I run to his closet.
"What? What are you talking about," he says as I hear some moving on the other side of the phone. I start to hear pounding on the door. "Adam, there trying to get in," I say as I start to cry.
"I'm coming sweetheart, don't move and stay on the phone ok?" He says as I hear a car door close. "Hurry," I cry as I hear the door break open.
I hear the footsteps walk around the room, before they pause at the closet door. I start to breathe heavy, covering my mouth to mask the sound.
I hear Adams car as it speeds up. The closet door opens and the one person I least expected to open the door did. "James?"
