Special ch. 4: When she begins another Story

"Baby."

"Baby Neah, wake up."

"Baby Neah."

"Hmm." I felt papa kissed me on my forehead.

"Papa?" I slowly opened my eyes and met his smiling face.

"Good morning, baby."

"Good morning, papa!" I got up from my bed and hugged him tight.

"Ang laki na ng baby ko!" Papa carried me and we went to the kitchen, where mama was cooking.

"Good morning, mama!"

"Good morning, baby ko. Give a mama a kiss."

"Papa, baba ako." And I went to mama and gave her a kiss.

"Halika na. Kain ka na."

"And here we go." Papa carried me again and placed on the chair beside him.

"Pancakes!"

"Here, baby. Anong gusto mo, milk or juice?"

"Milk po."

"So, baby Neah. Remember what day it is, today?" Papa asked and I nodded excitedly.

"It's my first day in class!"

"So, what did we tell you about introducing yourself?"

I stood at my chair and smiled.

"Good morning, ma'am. Good morning classmates. My name is Sheneah Parker Bernardo. I'm six years old and I will turn seven tomorrow! It's nice to meet you all!" I smiled then bowed a little.

"Very good, baby. Upo ka na ulit. Finish your food, okay?"

"Opo, mama."

"Oh, hon. Nga pala. Superior Ross asked me to help him."

"About what?"

"I'll be fetching someone. Ang alam ko pamangkin niya yata. Pupuntahan ko siya sa westlake. Ang sabi ni Superior Ross, aampunin niya na daw ang bata."

"Mama, what is aampunin?" I asked.

"Baby. It is when you legally adopt someone. You will be his parent, even if you're not related to him."

"So Tito Superior will be a father to someone?"

"Yes, baby. And he's the same age as you. Baka sa susunod na linggo maging magkaklase na kayo."

"Pero bakit aampunin ni Tito Superior yung bata?"

"Yes. But Superior Ross will be his new father, so it will be fine. Kaibiganin mo rin siya kapag dumating na siya, okay?"

"Baby, let's go?" papa knocked on my door.

Papa and I headed to the car. I waved at mama again before leaving.
