Fifty-Two

   You guys have decided to be called Marauders!! If y'all don't like it or have a better idea, just comment. (You might want to read the thing up top before you read the Oneshot... I didn't write it btw) On with the Oneshot (it's really long and emotional just warning y'all)...

You knocked on the Potter's door. A grinning Euphemia answered.
"Hello, (Y/N)! James told me you were coming! Please, come in," she stepped aside. You dragged your trunk into the house.
"James!" She called loudly.
"What?" He yelled from upstairs.
"(Y/N)'s here!"
"Brilliant! Be down in a sec!"
There was the pounding of footsteps against the stairs. James emerged into the hallway.
"Hey (Y/N)!"
     "Hey Prongsie-Pie."
     James scowled. You laughed. You knew how much he despised the nickname.
     "So... you know where your room is," he gestured towards the steps.
     "James! Help her with her things!" Euphemia pointed towards your bag and trunk.
     "Mrs. Potter, it's fine–"
     "No, it's not. James...?"
     James grumbled, but picked up your things all the same. He grunted when he lifted your trunk.
     "Merlin's beard! What the hell did you pack?"
     You smirked. "Undetectable Extension Charm. Still haven't figured out how to make my stuff lighter, though..."
     James groaned.

After getting your room set up, you had to admit, you were feeling quite suspicious.
"James...?"
"Mhm?" His voice was muffled. You turned to see him lying on your bed, his face pressed into your pillow. You stifled a laugh.
"Where's Sirius?"
James rolled over.
"I was waiting for you to ask that. He's running an errand..." James trailed off, a dawning horror on his face.
"What?" You felt your face pale.
"I... I need to talk with my mum..." He sat up, dazed and terrified.
"James! What's happening? What's wrong with Sirius?"
"He told me... after he learned to apparate... he told me he wanted to... to get revenge..."
"Revenge? Revenge on–" You stopped, the situation finally starting to make sense. Sirius was born on 3 November, 1959. James was born on 27 March, 1960. You were born on (day) (month), 1960. Because it was Christmas Break of Seventh Year, Sirius was permitted to Apparate and use magic outside school.
"He wouldn't..." you chewed on your lip, running down the hall after James. You took the stairs two at a time.
"James, what have I told you about–"
"Mum? How long has Sirius been gone?"
All the color drained from Euphemia's face.
"God knows what that woman is doing to him." She turned to you. "I don't know if you know, but ever since I took Sirius from Walburga he's been upset. Sirius wanted to stand up for himself, and he didn't. He hid behind me. No matter how many times I told him it was okay to be afraid... it never mattered. He went back."
Euphemia looked as if she aged ten years.
"I'm going to get him." At the same time Mrs. Potter made the statement, the loud crack of apparition was heard. The sound of a body hitting the floor was enough to make you sprint into the foyer. James sucked in a breath. Euphemia muttered something.
"Oh my god!" You cried.
Sirius was slumped on the floor, bruises on his wrists. You knelt beside him.
"Sirius..." you shook him. He moaned in pain. You brushed the hair out of his face to reveal a long cut across his cheek.
"Oh my god, Sirius..." you felt hot tears form in your eyes.
"(Y/N)...?" He mumbled.
"Yeah," your voice cracked, and the tears started to fall. "Yeah, I'm here."
"Hey, don't cry... over me..." he coughed.
"Stop. Stop, you're safe now. You're okay now," you reassured yourself more so than Sirius.
"Mhm... I'm just dandy..." he cracked a smile, then winced.
"Oh, Merlin, what did she do to you?" Mrs. Potter had grabbed her wand and began mending his arms.
James was standing over you, a panicked look on his face.
"Well," Sirius grunted as you helped turn him over. "She started with Imperio, which I found pretty funny. I mean, she's been using that one to get me to hurt myself for a while now. It's almost like she didn't expect me to resist." He gave a humorless chuckle.
"Then came Crucio. She was so close to my arm that it bruised. She did that a couple times. Then I made a wisecrack and she did that spell... the one that cuts you really deeply. That's what this is from," he pointed gingerly to his left cheek.
"After that, she just kept using a bunch of curses. Stinging Jinx, Stupefy to the face... you name it. I finally managed to put up a blocking charm. I fired a couple curses at her, said what I came to said, and disapparated."
You were sobbing softly at how unaffected he was. His mother was abusive? Big deal. He had no idea what it was like to be born into a kind family. Thank Merlin for the Potters.
"Alright Sirius," you wiped away your tears. "We're going to apparate you upstairs, alright?"
"Sure," he shifted slightly, cringing as he did so.
You couldn't bear to see him in such pain.
Euphemia grabbed his arm.
"(Y/N). James. Upstairs."
You and James ran to the staircase, up the steps, and down the hall. You almost slipped on the hardwood, your socks helping you slide to a stop.
You flung open the door, Sirius resting on the bed. As you got closer, you realized he was sleeping.
You grabbed his desk chair and pulled it up next to the bed. You took his hand in yours, pressing his fingers to your lips. He stirred, his eyelids raising to reveal his beautiful eyes. You didn't like to use the word grey. Silver seemed like a more realistic word for them. They were usually bright and shining. In the dying light of day, however, his eyes looked like a slate grey. There was no excitement or mischief. There was nothing.
It was like he was letting you in, showing you the vulnerable part of himself. The broken part. Because that was what he looked like. Vulnerable. Broken.
He looked like a different person. Not the boy who pranked anyone in sight. Not the boy who wore leather 24/7 and rode an angsty black motorcycle. Not the boy who made girls swoon with a single smirk. Not the boy who could get out of any situation with his silver tongue and clever wit. Not the boy called Sirius Black.
     You had never seen anything more heartbreaking.
     "Hey," he mumbled. You smiled sadly.
     "Hey," you whispered in reply. "How're you holding up?"
     "Um... I'm holding, aren't I?" He gave a weak smirk.
You laughed quietly, tears blurring your vision.
"How many times do I have I tell you not to cry over me?" He questioned forlornly.
"Not enough," you offered a watery smile in return.
"You know... I could never have asked for a better girlfriend," he spoke softly.
"And I get stuck with you, ugh!" You were crying in earnest. He reached a hand up, though it obviously pained him, to wipe away your tears.
"Sirius, I–"
"I know that face. You're about to apologize for something that isn't your fault." He frowned.
"Guilty as charged," you muttered.
"(Y/N), it's not your fault my entire family is so... so... awful."
"I know," you sniffed.
     "Good."
     You gripped his hand like a lifeline.
     He stared at you, his gaze filled with gratefulness and affection.
     You stayed like that for a while.
     You didn't mind at all.

   Just a reason why Ben Barnes is literally Sirius (aside from the eyes but that's ok)
