Hiccup had been usually a likable person. He was nice a little sarcastic though and he usually said what was on his mind. So did a girl named Merida. Now you would thing these two would be great friends! Well you thought wrong.
It started in the first grade when Merida Dunbroch and Hiccup Haddock were placed in the same class and were assigned desk partners. They had to paint their favorite animal. Hiccup painted a little dragon and Merida painted a bear.
Hiccup looked over and saw Merida's blobby bear.
"What's that?" He asked
"It's a bear duh." She replied.
"Well it doesn't look like a bear it looks like a blob monster." He laughed.
"You look like a blob monster!" She retorted and squirted green paint all over his shirt.
"Hey!!!" He shouted and squirted her with blue paint.
From then on they just didn't get along. Fights happened anytime they were next to each other. Teachers tried their best to not have them in a class together. And if they were they were never placed close to each other.
In high school it was too tricky to have them in desperate classes. They went to a small high school and they were taking similar classes. So they ended up sharing a math class and an English class together.
Unfortunately there was assigned seats in their math class and they ended up sitting right next to each other.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Hiccup said.
"Dammit I already have two classes with you and now I have to sit next to you! Why is god punishing me." She sighed
"Maybe because you're the spawn of the devil." He muttered.
She swatted him in the arm "I heard that."
"Uh excuse me Mr. Gobber. I can't sit next to her." Hiccup said
"And why not?" Mr. Gobber asked
"Well they're many reasons but let's just say we don't get along."
"Sorry Mr. Gobber but if this idiot wouldn't be such a smart ass then maybe I could listen to your class." She said.
"Yeah when she's not busy hitting me like a cave girl." He said.
"Thats enough! You two are more alike then you think. You stay there and if I hear another word I will make sure you sit next to each other the whole year!"
"Ughhh" they both sighed.
A few weeks went by and there was some in class fighting. But they had mastered whispering insults to each other and hitting another when the teacher wasn't looking.
Then one day Hiccup was walking with his best friend Jack on the bleachers, Jack had a huge crush on the head cheerleader Rapunzel. So he would go almost every practice and Hiccup would come along sometimes.
"I talked to her the other day." Jack said.
"Really?" Hiccup asked.
"Yes really! We had a whole conversation. About school and sports." He said.
"Ah the romantics of school and sports that'll put you in the mood." Hiccup said sarcastically.
"Shut up. And hey looks like your girlfriend's talking to Devon MacIntosh track star." Jack said.
"I don't know what you mean because I don't have a girlfriend." Hiccup replied still looking at his phone.
"I meant Merida." He said.
