"Not her." Hiccup said as he stared into the eyes of darkness itself.

Pitch smiled as he looked at the young man and woman. He had captured her and the dragon and the Viking had come to rescue them. He enjoyed this little game of chase but now it was time to make the Viking choose. Pitch was interested in how the chief would respond.

"I'm afraid you don't have a choice in the matter. Either I get your beloved dragon or her. If you don't pick they both die. Choose quickly my patience is wearing thin." Pitch replied.

"That's not fair." Hiccup said.

"Life isn't fair neither is the afterlife now choose!" Pitch commanded.

"I choose me." Hiccup said.

"No! I won't let you!" Merida yelled.

"Interesting. You're sacrificing yourself?" Pitch questioned.

"Yes. I will sacrifice myself as long as you never touch Merida or Toothless ever again." Hiccup said.

"I always keep my promises." Pitch said. "You're soul is mine and mine to use and I swear never to touch your little dragon or your little girlfriend again." He replied.

"If you break your promise may your nightmares drag you down to hell."

"May my nightmares drag me straight to hell."

"Hiccup don't do this. Please!" Merida cried.

"Hey it's going to be okay. You and Toothless will be safe. I love you Merida and I promise to protect you always." Hiccup said

Merida held Hiccup close as she cried for Hiccup's sacrifice.

Pitch took Hiccup's soul right out of him as his spirit floated into Pitch's box of lost souls.

Hiccup's body went limp as Merida tried to hold onto him.

"No!" She cried.

Toothless growled from a distance trapped by chains. Until finally he gave in to a whimper.

"You will pay for this." Merida said as she looked at Pitch.

"I'm interested in how you will make me Merida Dunbroch. I do must tell you his soul can be returned but only if done before the year is up. With the state you're in I doubt you'll be able to defeat me by then."

"I have to stop crying sometime and when I'm done thats when I'll get my vengeance, you will wish that your nightmares dragged you to hell once I'm through with you." Merida said.

Pitch seemed even more pleased with her answer. Finally something to keep his interest. A new enemy that was mortal but still had advantages to keep the battle interesting.

"A woman with nothing to lose and me having boundaries. Finally something interesting." He replied.

He was gone. All that was left was Hiccup's body and Merida and Toothless's cries.

Authors note: short I know but it's really hard for me to write sad ones. You all are dark little people! Lol thank you for the request If I have time I might do like a sequel where Merida has her vengeance but no promises! Please vote comment and request!
