Cliché:
Trevor's POV••
It all seemed like one of those cliché movie that you see and everything was predictable with the nerdy girl getting the popular guy, or the jock trying to get with the last virgin in the school or when one of the preppy girls get the most unpopular girl to run for prom queen and they actually win or when a girl tries to get the player to stop being a playboy. Except this movie wasn't on the big screen and I didn't daydream for this to happen. It just happened.
Spring had just started and I was walking down the sidewalk with Jc and his girlfriend, Lia and he kept on kissing her nose or holding her hand or complementing her, while I was silently gagging.
"I see you guys are hungry." I said referring to their face sucking, considering they were in their honeymoon phase. Jc slapped me at the side of my head and Lia just laughed.
"Actually, I am kinda hungry." Lia said, still holding Jc's hand.
"Burgers?" Jc suggested. I just shrugged my shoulders and followed the couple. The walk was short, thank goodness, and it was a small burger joint. It wasn't full but it wasn't empty either. We took a seat at an empty table, me sitting across from the lovers and quickly focusing on the menu instead of watching the love fest. After a few minutes of me awkwardly looking at the menu, a waiter came to take our orders. Jc ordered for Lia and she just smiled at Jc as if he was the most amazing thing in the world. He left our tables and this time I focused on the couple. Jc would look at her as if she was his world and Lia would look at Jc like he was her support. They were always laughing and enjoying each others company. They weren't that couple, instead they were that couple. And that couple annoyed me.
I got out of my seat and was about to leave when Jc stopped me.
"Where are you going?" he asked. I didn't wanted to say away from them because they annoyed me and I had no idea how to gently put it.
"I'm not hungry. I lost my appetite and I feel sick." I lied
Jc seemed to buy it but Lia seemed a little hurt.
"Okay, we hope you feel better." Jc said and when Lia heard him say 'we', she immediately smiled. I walked out the restaurant feeling terrible and wondering why did I run out? They weren't rubbing it in my face, they weren't ignoring me, they were just being normal Jc and Lia. I was still thinking about that when I felt something impact me. I staggered back and saw what had pushed me away. A girl was on her back and rubbing her head and groaning. I walked over to her as she sat up and held out my hand.
"Oh my gosh! I am sorry, did I hurt you? Are you okay?" she frantically asked. I laughed and shook my head. I saw something on the sidewalk in between us and as I was about to pick it up, I grabbed a hand instead. I looked up and her eyes met mine.
"I'm Trevor." I said smiling at her.
"Trevor." she said smiling back
"I mean that's not my name. That's yours, Y/N. My name is Y/N. Yea, that's my name." she nervously said. I finally looked at her. Like actually looked at her. Her hair was in a side braid and she was wearing running shorts, a black crew neck and worn out black converses. She was wearing black glasses and her face was flushed. I felt something weird in my chest and dare I say, it was love at first sight.
"So, I was wondering, do you wanna go see a movie?" I asked unlocking her phone. She hesitated as she saw me type something in her phone. I handed it back to her and smiled.
"Sure." she finally said and that's how it went. After the movie we kept on dating and we turned into that couple. I finally understand why Jc and Lia were always kissing and why they look at each other the way they do. They were displaying their love for each other because sometimes words aren't enough. This was the cliché story of the boy who thought love was annoying and bumps into a girl in the street and realized it was love at first sight and lived happily ever after.
Sometimes cliché is good.
