Gun(AU):

Your POV••

I quickly swallowed the pink vitamin pill that they served us and gulped it down with some water. I sat on the small bed and stared out the window, ripping the pieces of the tortilla they gave us apart and slowly chewing it.

You couldn't really see much out the window except for the dry barren road that lead out to the forest and the guards in front of the tall metal gate. The thing that caught my attention was the rain. It was raining and this was very rare. It was small rain drops that was coming down slowly, making the humidity in the small room even more unbearable.

I picked at my eggs and took out the ham that was mixed into it. I pulled my knees up to my chest and looked up at the ceiling, waiting for Sydney to come back, the same worried thoughts running through my head.

Will she come back? Will she be okay? What if she gets hurts? What if she dies? What if she gets caught?

All these questions run through my head whenever she leaves and the only consolation I have is the black metal bracelet that's clamped around her wrist with a thin turquoise wire that looked like a zig zag design. The bracelet was meant to keep track of the the servants so they wouldn't run away but months ago Sydney managed to cut the wire and to repurpose it so that it will show her sign on the grid but not where she is. The bracelet didn't do much but if someone sees the bracelet on you they'll take you to your owner right away.

I told her it was a terrible idea and she just laughed at me.

Still concentrating on my thoughts I felt the whole bedroom shake and only few picture frames that decorated the walls fell down to the ground. I looked outside and saw security guards running around.

I started to panic and ran to the door, trying to pull it open and found it was locked. I ran over to the window and I started hitting it hoping it would break but the glass didn't even crack. I frantically ran around the whole room, looking behind every piece of furniture and crook in the room looking for something to break out with and I felt my fingertips slightly brush across cold metal and I froze.

~

"Sydney are you crazy!" I whispered yelled when she pulled out the black gun with 3 bullets.

"No, but I'm borderline to it." She grinned and aimed the gun at a picture frame and pretended to shoot it.

"Sydney, if master finds out we'll both end up in the dungeons below!" I hissed at her and ripped the gun out of her hand.

"Think about y/n! What if one day something happens? I know how to protect myself but you don't. You'll need this one day." she said and wrapped my fingers around the thing.

"I worry about you." Sydney said, looking into my eyes.

I pulled away and looked at the black gun in my hand.

"I can protect myself."

~

The memory bought tears to my eyes but I didn't have time to wipe them away when I heard someone trying to break down the door.

I quickly pointed the gun to the door, the rattling of the door knob getting louder and then it got silent.

I lowered the gun and just looked at the door.

'It was probably a figment of my imagination.'

And then a big loud crack came from the direction of the door and I closed my eyes, randomly shooting in the direction.

"Y/n! What the heck?" yelled a familiar voice.

I opened my eyes and saw Sydney, blood smeared on the ugly gray sweater and black skinny jeans.

"Sydney?" I asked is disbelief.

"Remember when I told you that there would be a time where you needed to learn how to protect yourself?" she asked me, rummaging through our small closet.

"Sydney wha-" but I got cut off when she pulled out a red bandana and handed it to me. Inside the bandana was something hard and I unwrapped the bandana and found the extra bullets and a small pocketknife.

"Today's the day," She said and she tied my hair out of my face and slipped another knife into my sock and a pack of matches into my chest,"and I won't be there to protect you."

"What's going on?" I asked Sydney and she have me something the resembled a holster except inside contained a sword.

"I'm not taking this." I protested and handed it over to her but she slung the sword over my shoulder and before I could ask her what was going on, a boy with blonde hair and brown roots burst into the room.

"We have to go. There's not much time left." He ordered and looked at me for a split second before he walked out the room.

"Are you ready?" Sydney asked, the same smile she had when she first brought the gun on her face.

I nodded even though my heart was hammering in my chest.
