Paths:
Your POV••
I ran through the woods, the full moon shining down light on me. My chest heaved and I was breathless. My legs were still going and felt as if they never were moving. I looked back and the creature with glowing eyes was hot on my trail. I turned back around and pushed myself even more until I had a break through and I was a few meters ahead of the beast.
I could hear it snarl and almost feel it's jaw clamp onto my leg. The beads of sweat rolled down the side of my face.
I kept running, thinking that any time the beast would give up but I was wrong. It was still close to me as if the speed of the chase never changed.
I made a sharp turn to the right, causing me to stumble over the overgrown tree roots popping out from the ground. Just as I was getting up I felt the creature's breath creeping down my neck. I rolled over and I was face to face with it. The drool rolled off his canines and his pink slobbery tongue coming out to lick his lips. I crawled back and he moved towards me until he had me trapped between his body and a tree, the only thing separating us was the few feet between us.
I whimpered when he got closer and closed my eyes, waiting to feel the sharp pain of teeth biting or claws across my face, but I didn't feel anything. I opened my eyes and saw two figures rolling on the ground. I couldn't get up to run, I could even scream for help. I was paralyzed with fear.
They were now on there feet, and the one chasing me before noticed that I was still there. In one swift movement, he had his claws at my neck. My breath started to become shorter and faster. I tried kicking and punching but then I stood completely still when I heard,
"Move and I'll kill you."
"Let her go." said the red eyes. He had dirty blonde hair going around his face, fangs out and bushy eyebrows.
"And why should I do that dear Connor?" asked the one holding me.
"She never did anything to you. You're looking for vengeance for the ones who killed your sister, not going around and killing innocent people." said the Connor thing.
"Connor, please." I gasped. He turned to look at me for a split second before turning his attention to the other one.
"You're choking her, she's breathless. She hasn't done anything. She's not one of them." argued Connor once again.
"You know what Connor, you're right," he started and turned his face so I could see his face, "but let me give her something to remember me by. So she won't be as stupid as the others." he smiled and felt something drag across my skin, from my mid thigh to my knee. I shrieked in pain and he let me go.
I fell to the ground, quietly crying and afraid of moving. I wasn't sure if he was gone but I felt someone touch my shoulder.
"It's okay. He's gone now." he said.
I looked up and saw not the beast, but a guy with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, a few beauty marks on his face.
I sat up but didn't get up. I still couldn't find my voice or what to say, so all I did was cry. Never in a million years would I imagine that I would be crying alone with some he beast or whatever he was in the middle of the night. With my head down, I felt someone pick me up and carry me. I was still tense at his touch even though he did save me.
"What are you?" I asked as we finally got onto the road that separated the city from suburbia. He glanced down at me, and half smiled at me but returned to his serious face expression.
"Maybe one day, if our passes cross again, I'll tell you." he replied.
I frowned but didn't push him, instead I snuggled closer and breathed in his scent of soap and vanilla. And as we walked towards suburbia, falling asleep to the beat of his heart as my right leg bleed onto his gray shirt, I couldn't help but to think that our paths would cross again and secretly wish for our paths to cross again.
