Half A Heart:

It was warm and sunny outside, the spring sun shining down on you and Kian.

"Y/N," he muttered in your hair.

"What?" you asked, rolling over to face him. He stared at you and cupped your face in his hands.

"I love you." he said before leaning up. You leaned down and all of the sudden you weren't at the warm field with Kian, you were standing in a dark, cold place, being illuminated by only a dim light coming from the right side of the darkness.
Your mind said no, but your body said yes as you walked towards the dim light. Getting closer to the source of the light, you felt as if you were going to throw up. You could hardly breath and the sweat was dripping down the side of your face.
This was it. You were a few inches away from the light, when you decided you didn't want to find out what was the source of the light, instead you wanted to get away. You tried to turn around and run away but your body kept inching towards the light until you saw two figures. One of them was taller than the other, the tallest one screaming and the shortest one was screaming too.
You were at the light and it was a white screen. You poked it and it was paper thin. Without thinking, you punched the screen, only making your fist bounce back. A paper thin screen, but can't be ripped.

'Or maybe I didn't hit it hard enough.'

You started to repeatedly punch the screen until a small crack formed. You now started kicking it and punching it until the crack spread out through out the screen.
You tapped the screen once, twice and three times, the screen breaking like glass, but disappearing like dust. You stepped through and saw that Kian was the tall shadow and a girl was the short shadow.

"I can't do this anymore." Kian said turning his back towards the short person. You wanted to go up to Kian and ask him what was going on but you couldn't move. The short person started begging for him not to leave her.

"Kian!" you yelled. He didn't turn around to face you or the short person. He just grabbed his car keys and shoes.

"Kian!" you yelled again. He just grabbed his jacket off the hook and turned to face the short figure. This felt too familiar to you.

"I'm breaking up with you." he said and walked out the door without another word. The short person just stood there and fell to her knees. Your heart felt broken and tears were running down your face. The girl finally got up and saw who it was.

The short girl was you.

You woke up, bathed in sweat. You wiped your tears off your face with the heel of your hand, sitting up in bed.
You've been getting these dreams and it always ended the same way. And you didn't like it. The dream started off with a warm sensation to a cold empty feeling in the middle of your chest, as if you were drowning. You kept on crying and reached to touch the small heart pendant around your hand that Kian gave you, 2 weeks before you guys broke up.
Rubbing the necklace made you feel better, but not good enough to fall asleep again. You sighed and looked over at your night stand, the red numbers on your alarm clock saying 5 in the morning. There was no use trying to go back to sleep. You got out of bed and walked to the kitchen, preparing some tea to calm down your nerves. You stood there and waiting for the water to boil.
As you stood in the kitchen, you kept on thinking about the dream and comparing it to the reality. In the dream the shadow you begged for him not to leave, while the reality you just stood there and watch him walk out the door.

"At least the shadow me was brave enough." you muttered.

You heard a knock on your door and you wondered who it was at 5 in the morning.
Without checking through the peep hole, you opened the door to reveal Kian. His hair was a mess, tossed in different directions. He was wearing a hoodie, basket ball shorts and a pair of random shoes. He had bags under his eyes and He had started to grow some stubble.

"Kian," you breathed. He just stood there, not saying a single word.

"Why are you here?" you coldly said, remembering what had happened.

"We need to talk." He said in hoarse voice as if he had been crying for days now.

"About what? You made it pretty clear you were embarrassed to be seemed with me." you said and tried closing the door but he stopped it with his foot.

"Y/N, please." He said his voice cracking a bit. If you didn't have any sympathy for him, you would've shut the door in his face, but instead you opened it.

"You have 2 minutes." you said standing at the door. His eyes were watering and he cleared his throat.

"I had time to think about what happened," he started, focusing on his shoes.

"And I thought I would be happy being single, going to every party and hanging out with the guys without out you, but I was wrong. How can someone be happy when they're missing they're other half? when they're just half a heart and you feel like you're dying inside. Every where I went, you were the only thing on my mind. I love you, and I never meant anything that night. Everything I said was out of anger so can we forget everything that was said that night and start from the moment I first met you? Can we go back to our kisses and movie nights? If not, spare me the words and close this door right now, and I will never be back in your life." he said in one breath. You wanted to close the door but knew that you couldn't because over the past few days you realised something as well.

"Kian," you whispered

"Yes?" he asked

"I love you." you said and he looked up at you. He didn't say anything as he closed the space between you two.

"I love you." he repeated the words and kissed your lips, tugging on the pendant around your neck.
