Kade's POV
I hated this feeling.
The feeling of grief, of regret, of guilt.
I brought Mason into their lives and as the result, I lost them.
"I brought you a sandwich." Grandma and Grandpa were looking after me. They helped me feel closer to my mom. I can't go back home. Harry won't speak to me and Edward won't speak to Andi. Her wolf had been shut down ever since.
"I'm not hungry, Grams." I lied. Right on cue, my stomach growled.
"Your tummy says otherwise." She chuckled.
"Why did she die?" I blurted out. I couldn't help it, the question had been on my mind all day.
"I'll get the book." Grandpa said. He went to the book shelf in my room. It was nice having my own room at their house.
"The book?"
"The book about our history and the legends. It's also the book that explains your mom and you." He flipped to the back of the book. A picture of an angel and two women were. The angel was in a light and the two women were on clouds on either side of her.
"The Moon Goddess and Aphrodite." Grandma said, as if remembering a childhood story. "I used to read it every night."
"The legend is about an angel who was special to all kinds. Vampires worshiped her, werewolves were captivated by her, and angels envied her." Grandpa began. "The Moon Goddess wanted to claim her as her second in command. Then she would help guide vampires and werewolves to their mates. But Aphrodite wanted her to help bring humans together in love and help guide angels to the people they will forever guard. The Moon Goddess and Aphrodite made a compromise to share the angel. In daylight, she will work with Aphrodite as a love goddess. At night, she will work with the Moon Goddess as a Lunar Goddess, guiding mates."
"Is the angel in the legend-"
"It's your mom." Grandma nodded.
"But she's not an angel." I said.
"She is now. Or at least the journey to Heaven she was." Grandma quickly wiped a tear from her eye.
"Grandpa? You came back from Heaven. So now you're an angel?"
"Yes. I used to be a vampire. When I was executed I became half vampire, half angel. But I couldn't bare to let your mom grow up without a dad her whole life. I traded my vampire ability to come back." He told me.
"So if Mom came back, she would have to give up being a hybrid? Would she come back as an angel?"
"She would come back as an angel, but what good what it do? She wouldn't be able to protect you." He said.
"I'd rather have that than not having her here." I whispered.
**
I exhaled a shaky breath and entered my house. The boys stared at me for a moment. "Hey kid, how're you holding up." Louis asked. His eyes were bloodshot red and he looked like he lost some weight.
"I'm holding up." I laughed a little.
"Good. I cleaned up your room so you wouldn't have to worry." He said. I nodded and closed my bedroom door once I was inside.
"Hello, Kade." I jumped. Harry was staring at my picture wall. My picture wall consisted of selfies I took with everyone. "I remember that day. Your mom was so happy when you were born." He removed a picture of my mom holding me as a baby.
"I don't remember putting that up." I told him, looking at the picture.
"It's my fault." He said, staring at the side of my face.
"It's not your fault. If it's anybody's fault, it's mine."
"I didn't protect her. I failed Aphrodite, the Moon Goddess, and especially your mom." A single tear slid down his right cheek. "I can't live with this guilt anymore."
"So don't feel guilty. You had no control over what happened, nobody did."
"I could've done something! I'm so sorry Kade." He put down the picture and walked into my bathroom. I heard the lock click and the sound of things falling.
"Harry?" I knocked on the door. I kept hearing things being knocked over and then it stopped. It sounded like a medicine container was being opened. Then I remember all of the pills my mom gave me for cramps and painkillers.
"Harry." I jiggled the lock. "What are you doing?"
"Ending it." He stated.
Harry's POV
I stared, disgusted, at my reflection in Kade's bathroom mirror. I downed every last pill that was in the yellow container.
It wasn't enough. I opened up a fresh packet of Advil and swallowed them.
"Harry, stop it right now." Kade banged on the door. "Liam, Edward!"
"I am stopping it. I'm stopping everything I did to cause pain." Ny head began to feel dizzy and I slumped on the floor.
"What is it?" I heard my brother, Edward's voice. I will miss him, he already lost Marcel.
"I think Harry is trying to kill himself." Kade whimpered.
"Harry! God dammit Harold! Open the fucking door!" The doorknob sounded like it broke.
"Harry open this door right now!" Liam shouted.
"Try this." It sounded like they were trying to pick the lock.
I closed my eyes and waited. Soon I could see light and the familiar golden gates.
I'm home.
