Kade's POV
I strapped the velcro on my Hello Kitty sneakers. My mom dressed me in a white sundress and braided my hair back.
"Be nice to your teacher and the kids there." She rambled on and on while I nodded my head like my life depended on it.
I find it amusing how she thinks I'm so innocent and naive when really I have the IQ of a college grad. She handed me my back pack and wiped crumbs off of the corners of my mouth.
"Have fun! And eat your carrots!" Louis picked me up and spun me around, making me laugh. Everyone decided to pack something to remember them in my lunch. Louis gave me carrots, Niall face me a single chicken wing from Nando's (my favorite food from now on), Harry gave me a peanut butter sand which cut out into a deformed cat, Liam have me a fruit cup with a fork, and my mom packed me a "surprise", though I know it's a brownie.
Harry's brothers, Marcel and Edward, said that they'd be there to "protect" me by working as teacher assistants. Marcel acted like he wanted me wrapped in bubble wrap. "Careful while you walk, don't touch anything if you don't want germs, and do not speak disrespectfully to anyone." Marcel lectured me about straight posture and politeness, while Edward smoked a cigarette in a corner.
"Edward, no smoking in my home!" Mom smacked his hand, chastising him, while he chuckled.
"Yeah, yeah. I call shotgun!" Edward jogged to the car and hopped over the side, seeing the top was down. Mom shook her head, mumbling curse words she would scorn me for. Marcel yelled lectures at him, leaving me to hobble out the doorway.

I sat in the plastic chair, swinging my legs back and forth. Boys played with trucks and action figures, while girls dressed in tutus and fairy wings, as I observed. Never once did it occur to me to speak to anyone. I figured I'd be known as the quiet shy girl who kept to herself.
"Hi!" A peppy voice broke me from my thoughts. A girl with shirt blonde pigtails wearing a baby blue skirt and white cardigan smiled a toothless grin. "I'm Lux."
Lux was an unusual name for a human, maybe we'll get along rather well. "I'm Kade."
"Kate?"
"Kade. With a d." She nodded while whispering 'oh' to herself.
"You wanna see something cool?" She had a glint in her eye that stated she wasn't momma's little angel.
She then disappeared. Literally. She just disappeared in midair. "Lux?" That was freaky.
"Boo!" I screamed and covered my eyes. Furious giggles erupted beside me. "Never gets old."
"You scared me, goddess." I put my hand over my heart and huffed.
"Sucks to suck blood." She laughed to herself. I'm guessing she's a vampire. "Well duh I am. You've obviously got some in you. Mostly fleabag though." She shuddered.
It was my turn to laugh. "I think we'll get along just fine, Luxxy."
