IVAN’s POV
I arrived home at exactly 7pm. The smell of grilled chicken welcomed me.
“You’re back. I’m not done with the cooking yet.” It was Bella. She seems busy preparing our dinner.
I went straight to the living room and laid down on the sofa. I’m freakin’ tired.
“Just call me when you’re through.” I mumbled. Good thing Bella’s here. If not, I’d rather eat instant noodles. If it’s Faye who’s in here, I’d be cooking steaks and veggies and deserts. She’s got that huge appetite, the fact that I’m tired and she doesn’t care, withstanding.
15 minutes had passed and we’re in the dining room, munching Bella’s specialty.
“You still have the skills of a chef, huh?” I remarked. Now she’s flattered.
“Been practicing.”
“No wonder you’re improving.”
“Wow. I can’t believe I just received a compliment from a great chef.” She responded sardonically.
“Sarcastic as ever, Ms. Becina.”
“Still full of yourself, Mr. Corbez.”
We were busy having informal discussion about our family businesses when my phone rang.
“It’s Leeanne, right?” Bella asked.
“How did you know?”
“Your smile says so.”
“You bet.”
Can’t help myself but smile. The fact that she’s jealous is making my night magnificent.
“You really like her, don’t you?”
“I do... love her. Excuse me.” She was puzzled but I managed to proceed with the call.
“Ivan.” I answered.
“HOY VANO.”
“Oh?”
“Tanda mo pa ba yung pinapirmahan ko sayong kontrata?”
“That wasn’t a contract. There was nothing written in there. It was an autograph.”
“Ang kapal, tukmol ka. Yung totoo? Tanda mo pa nga?”
“Of course. How can I forget our marriage contract?”
“Hindi yon marriage contract!” She shouted. My phone almost slipped. Her big mouth never fails to beat me.
“Hindi ba. Akala ko yun talaga balak mo e.”
“Heck no!”
“Then what is it? A blank form?”
“Hindi yun blank form! Sadyang hindi ko pa lang nasusulatan!”
“Stop shouting, will you? Hanggang ngayon wala pa ring nakasulat sa papel na pinirmahan ko?”
“Uhm... HEHE.”
“That’s great.” I remarked sarcastically. “So what is it about the blank form?”
“Sabing hindi yun blank form! Yun ay tinatawag na... na...”
“Ano?”
“Yun ang tinatawag na...”
“Sabi agad.”
“Teka nag-iisip ako!”
“Then phone me later. We’re having our dinner, you know.”
“Okay fine. Yun ang ating Contract of Commitment!”
