Chapter 22: Missing Her and Fogetting Him

Megan Dalton

Dad and I went shopping for a bed today. And as for my car, I asked mum to ship it here for me. She called me last night, saying she misses me. Not a single word about my whereabouts was mentioned to Ethan or my friends. She’s okay with me staying with my dad and she’ll be visiting me next week—despite the fact that she still hates dad.

Marie managed to contact me and told me that the two of them are excited to hang out with me whenever. I seriously want to be classmates with Marie so that I have somebody to talk to. Firstly, I thought she was Latin. I’m surprised that she is in fact a Filipino—both heart and soul. I heard her speak Filipino on the plane and I didn’t understand a thing.

I told her that I’m free the next day and so here I am, waiting for them here in Starbucks. I’ve already ordered myself a venti-sized Ferrero Rocher Frappe. Yesterday, I also went shopping for new clothes. I wanted my Cali life to be as fresh as a new-born baby. Now I’m dressed in an ombré style dress. It goes from white at the top then it’s orange at the bottom. I also added a jean jacket and a brown belt to add more touch. Instead of heels, I decided on wearing my white converses. I curled my auburn hair and decided to put a white striped ribbon on it. Well, I think this is really Asher Dalton as I type this.

Last night, I also deleted my Facebook, twitter and my blog—which pained me so much. I decided on creating a new one and I did. Asher Dalton for my Facebook and @Asher_D for my twitter. My old ones were Megan Dalton and @MEGalodon_. I’ll miss my old life—the quiet and simple one. Not the one that was schemed.

“Ash! Hey!” I was startled from my thoughts when Marie sat on the chair opposite mine. I noticed that Francine’s not with her. She also has an ice cold Caramel Macchiato on hand.

“Hi Marie. Where’s Francine?” I ask her. She sipped her drink first before answering. “She went shopping with my mother. I’m actually getting a new phone today. I’m so excited because we’re getting iPhone 5s phones! Those cost so much in the Philippines I can’t even afford them but here—with all the plans and stuff—I’m finally getting it!”

“Wow. Really, an iPhone 5s? Well, maybe I might get a new phone too—since you mentioned it. I really want to get out of my old life. I’m going to be enrolling in this school here in Cali.” I said, also sipping my frappe.

“Guess what, I am enrolling too! Westfield High.” I really adore Marie’s enthusiasm.

“What? I’m going there too! Oh my gosh, I hope we’re classmates!” I got all over excited. Finally, this is the start of the reconstruction of my life.

“I hope so too!” We giggled together as we enjoyed our frappes. After that, Marie and I decided to go ahead and check out what her sister—Francine—was doing. We eventually spotted her getting a new phone with their mother.

“Hi mom.” Marie kissed her mother’s cheek. Her mom’s eyes were focused on me.

“Oh and this is my friend, Asher. The one I met at the plane ride?” Marie explains to her. Her mom gave me a warm smile. “Very pleased to meet you, Ash.”

“Likewise, Mrs. Espino.” I smile politely.

“Oh darling, call me, Alice. I stopped being Mrs. Espino years ago.” She still has that smile on her face. Wait, Marie never told me her parents are divorced. But nonetheless, I just smiled at Alice.
