(An embarrassing disclaimer: I began writing this during the summer so it took place during that time..HOWEVER in the story it's around late October. Yes I know in most places prom takes place at the end of the year or around that time but in Ottawa where I grew up it was closer to the beginning [maybe because it wasn't even called prom lol it was the same idea tho]😬 sorry if there's confusion, but Bria's school year isn't anywhere near over)

Tuesday -

Bria

I rushed home from school and dressed in my most adult outfit. A pencil skirt and a blouse. The conference with Forest's teacher is at four, it's currently 3:25.

When Mrs.Sarah called me, she requested that I bring Forest with me so we can talk about his issues altogether. Of course I had to give him a talk beforehand.

"Alright Forest this is the only time I'm going this, so you better get your act together."

He nodded is head, understanding me.

"Is we posed to tell her you're my mom?"

"No, I'm still your sister. I'm just going to tell her I'm a little bit older than I am, got it?"

"Mhm."

"Alright, lets go."

This shit is getting stressful, prom is this week and I still don't have my dress..not to mention Devyn just had to tell everyone about Chris and I, meaning Lincoln hates my guts now. Both him and Devyn are now dateless days before prom..I feel horrible.

I took my mind off of prom and borrowed Casey's car to drive to Forest's school. As I walked through the halls of his elementary school I got memories of my experiences in grade 1. My dad used to drop me off every single day, it's a shame Forest has to take the bus for a substitute.

We walked into the classroom Mrs.Sarah was waiting in, and I was met with a young, blonde woman sitting at her desk.

"Good afternoon to you both. I'm guessing you're his guardian?"

"Hi, I'm Brianna..Forest's sister."

She made a face as we sat down in the two chairs in front of her desk.

"You're his sister?" She asked hesitantly.

"That's what she just said...Duh-" Forest mumbled before I shushed him.

"I see. Is he..adopted?" She asked in a whisper.

"No?"

"Oh I'm sorry, but you two look nothing alike." She said, OBVIOUSLY commenting on Forest's light skin tone compared to my darker one.

"I get that a lot. How about we begin?" I said changing the subject.

"Ah yes, well as you know Forest was in a physical altercation with another student. And fighting is most definitely not tolerated here at school. And all because the child made a comment about Forest's mother-"

"Wait what?"

Forest had told me he fought a boy because he'd called him something out of his name..nothing about Mom.
