I woke up to the sound of something burning. Which one of the boys decided to cook today? I ran down the stairs and saw Daniel holding a fire extinguisher and Zach and Jonah with a cup of water.
"What happened?" I yelled, looking at the mess.
"We'll let Dani boy here explain that to you," Jonah said, patting Daniel on the back.
"Yeah, we're gonna go find Jack and Corbyn."
Zach and Jonah took off running down the hall and out to the back door.
I looked over at Daniel and saw him with a nervous look on his face. "Daniel, care to explain why my kitchen almost burned down."
"Well, you see, uhhh..." He stuttered.
"D."
"Well, since West isn't here, I decided to step in for him and make you breakfast."
"Daniel, that's sweet, but you're not my boyfriend. Plus, you can't cook."
"Hey, I'm trying to be a good friend here."
"Okay Dani, you're the best friend ever. Now, go put the fire extinguisher up and change your clothes."
"Yes mam." Daniel ran off into another room and I cleaned up the kitchen.
When I was about half way done I got a FaceTime call from West.
"Hey baby," I said looking into the camera.
"Hey."
"How's Arizona?" I propped my phone up on the microwave and went back to cleaning.
"Terrible without you."
"You're sweet."
"I know." West pretended to flip his hair, making me laugh. "I wish I was there. I tried to make mom and dad let me stay, as I do all the time, but no."
"Hey, it's their best friend's wedding, you can't skip that."
"But I am not a part of it!"
"West."
"Okay, I'm sorry."
"What time does it start?"
"The wedding? 6 o'clock."
"Okay, well I have to clean all this, so consider yourself lucky all you have to do is go to a wedding." I picked up my phone and flipped the camera, showing him the rest of the mess.
"Oh my gosh, what happened?" West started to laugh and I gave him a straight face.
"Daniel decided to try to cook. Daniel can't cook. I bought a fire extinguisher for a reason."
"So that's why you bought that."
"Yep, good thing I did too."
"So what, and why, was he trying to cook?"
"Pancakes. And he wanted to be 'a good friend and make me breakfast since you were not here to do so,'" I said, putting air quotes around what Daniel said.
"We all know I would have burned the house down too, so he did good."
"Thank you, West," Daniel said as he walked back into the kitchen.
"No problem bud!"
West went back out into the living room and I went back to West.
"Okay, I'm going to go clean this up. Love you."
"Love you too! Bye."

Daniel's POV

I woke up and went downstairs to Kourtney's kitchen. We all decided to stay the night last night, since it was dark and already late.
I opened her cabinet and took the pancake batter stuff out. This might not be the best idea. I knew Jonah was up, so I texted him and told him to come downstairs. We all knew I could not cook.
Jonah came downstairs saw what I was doing and grabbed the fire extinguisher Kourtney bought last month. Me and Jonah made the batter, and it was all going well, until we had to actually cook. Zach had come down by now, so we were all trying. Before I knew it, the fire extinguisher was going off and the guys were pouring water.
Kourtney came downstairs, obviously she had just woken up, bed head, no makeup, sweats, a sports bra, perfect. I know I had told her I would 'lose my feelings, but I can't. They just get stronger.
"What happened?" She asked. Her eyes went wide as she looked at the mess.
"We'll let Dani boy here explain that to you." Jonah patted me on the back.
"Yeah, we're gonna go find Jack and Corbyn."
Zach and Jonah left, leaving me and Kourtney.
'Daniel, care to explain why my kitchen almost burned down?" She put her hand on her hip and looked at me.
"Well, you see, uhhh..."
"D."
"Well, since West isn't here, I decided to step in for him and make you breakfast," I explained.
"Daniel, that's sweet, but you're not my boyfriend. Plus, you can't cook."
"Hey, I'm trying to be a good friend here."
"Okay Dani, you're the best friend ever. Now, go put the fire extinguisher up and change your clothes."
"Yes mam." I went into the guest room our clothes were in. I changed out of my shorts and shirt into some jeans and a black shirt. I put some gel in my hair and went back into the kitchen.
I heard Kourtney on the phone with West. I immediately thought back to that day.

*flashback*

Kourtney left to go get food, so it was just me and West. I hated him. Not because he was dating my dream girl, well, yes that too, but something was up with him. He was always on his phone, smiling at it. He was almost never around anymore. Something had to be up. I decided to poke a little bit.
"Who are you texting?" I asked, sitting on the bed.
"One of my friends."
"Who is it? I might know them."
"Is it any of your business?" He snapped. His voice started to get louder.
"Hey bro, chill, I was just wondering."
"You know what I'm wondering? Why you always flirt with my girlfriend."
"What are you talking about?"
"You are so clingy. You always do it. Try to one up me. Even today you stayed."
"Kourtney doesn't like scary things. I always stay with her when the others do something like that. I'm not the biggest fan of them myself either. And is there a problem with me staying at my best friend's house?"
"Listen bro, just stay off my girl."
"Listen bro, I'm not doing anything with 'your girl.' Heck, she isn't yours anyways, you don't own her."
"Whatever, I'm going out for a minute." West set his phone down and went outside.
His phone buzzed and, me being nosy, looked at it. I checked the caller id and, who the fuck is Natalie?
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey baby!"
I knew that voice anywhere. "This is not West, he went outside for a minute. Is there a message I need to deliver?"
"Just tell him to call me back."
"Yeah, will do. Kourtney will love to hear her boyfriend is cheating on her again with the same girl. Bye Nat Cat," I said, referencing our old nickname for Natalie. I hung up the phone and put it back. I honestly can't believe West.
West came back into the room and looked at me. "Did anyone call?"
"Yeah, actually. Natalie did. I'm sure Kourtney would love to hear that her boyfriend is cheating on her."
"What the fuck Daniel! Don't tell her."
"What are you gonna do about it pretty boy?"
I felt his fist come in contact with my jaw. I didn't even move. I punched him back in the nose, then his jaw.  "Punch me again, it will be worse. The only reason I'm not telling her, is so that she can stay happy. I don't need a depressed friend right now. "
"Do you like her?" He asked, looking at me.
"What?"
"Do you like Kourtney?"
"As a sister."
"Don't give me that. I see the way you look at her. You don’t like her. You love her. You would be better for her than I ever will be."
"You break her heart, I will murder you."
West got up and went over to the other side of the room. I sat back down on the bed. He went back in his phone and I went on mine as we waited for Kourtney to come back.

*end of flash back*

I zoned back into reality and went into the kitchen.
"We all know I would have burned the house down too, so he did good."
I put on a fake smile once I heard his voice. "Thank you, West!"
"No problem bud!"
I went into the living room. I couldn't stand the thought of him anymore. What he is doing is horrible. I don't want K to be upset tho. She'll know eventually, I know it.
