"These are for you, my lady," Jack said. He handed me a bundle of red roses with a card on it. The card read 'These are for you, my beautiful. Can't wait to see you tonight. -West.'
"Right this way," Corbyn said, grabbing my hand and leading me out to the car.
"Why is this so fancy. And why are you guys in tuxes?" I asked, sitting down in the back seat next to Jack.
"Part of our job," Corbyn responded.
"Turn around," Jack said.
"Why?" I asked. I turned so that my back was facing jack and I was looking out the window. I felt a blindfold go over my eyes, followed by Jack saying, "Turn back around."
We drove for about fifteen minutes before I felt the car come to a stop. I heard the driver's side door open before my door was opened for me.
"Give me your hand, I'll help you out," Zach said.
I stuck my arm out and grabbed Zach's hand. He helped me out of the car and over to somewhere else.
"There are about ten steps we have to go up, but I'll help you," Zach said. He placed his free hand on my back before telling me when to step up.
When we got to the top Zach passed me over to Jonah.
"Since we have to hike about ten to fifteen minutes, and you are not wearing shoes for hiking, I'm going to give you a piggyback ride," Jonah said.
"One, can you carry me that long? Two, I can't see to get on your back."
"You can do it. And yes, I can carry you that long. You only weigh about 90 pounds and are 5'5", you're tiny."
"Fine, I'll try." I put my hands on Jonah's shoulders and he bent down a little.
"Just jump on three, I'll catch you. One, two, three!"
I jumped onto Jonah's back and he wrapped his arms around my legs.
"You ready?"
"Yeah."
-
About ten minutes later Jonah came to a stop. "You can get off."
I got off of his back and I felt someone else wrap their arms around me. I could smell their cologne and immediately knew who it was.
"Hey, Daniel."
"Hey. You look great."
"Thanks," I said. I could feel my cheeks warm up as he started walking forwards.
"I'm going to take your blindfold off," he said. I felt the cloth being removed from my face as I opened my eyes. In front of me was a cute little picnic set up. You could see the Hollywood sign from where we were, and the sun was starting to set behind it. I looked over and saw West. He was wearing a white polo shirt with some khakis. I walked over to him and gave him a hug. From behind me I could hear the boys playing one of their songs 'Just to See You Smile.' I turned around and saw them all standing in a curved line. Left to right it was Corbyn, Jack, Daniel, Jonah, then Zach. They were all wearing white button up shirts with black suspenders and black pants.
Once they finished I walked over to them and gave them all a hug. "Thank you so much, guys. it means a lot."
"No problem, Kourt," Zach said.
"We're going to head back home, leave you two alone," Corbyn said.
All of the guys turned around and left and I walked back over to West.
"Did you do all of this?" I asked, giving him another hug.
"The guys helped a little. Especially Daniel, he knows a lot about you."
I pulled away from the hug and walked over to the picnic blanket they had set up. "He's been my best friend for the past eight years. He knows everything about me, more than Nadia does." I smiled and grabbed my necklace. "He gave me this last year on our seven-year frienaversary."
"Frienaversary?"
"Friendship anniversary."
"Oh, well, he helped a lot." West opened the picnic basket and pulled out fast food bags. "Especially with the food."
I let out a little laugh before grabbing the bag he was holding out towards me.
We stayed at the top of the hill for about two hours. We didn't even realize how late it was until we both noticed how dark it was.
"Think we should get going?" West asked, standing up after he grabbed the basket.
"Yeah probably."
West helped me up and we both put the blanket into the basket. Before we shut the lid, West pulled out two flashlights. "I brought them just in case."
"Smart thinking."
-
We pulled into the driveway and West walked me to the door. We stood on my porch for a few seconds before he spoke up.
"Hey, Kourtney?"
"Yeah?" I looked over and saw him down on one knee.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He pulled out a small black box with a ring inside.
"Yes. Yes, I will be your girlfriend."
He stood up and I gave him a hug. We both looked into each other's eyes before we kissed.
My life was finally in a good position.
