"No, but, like, this is an actual question and you are just over looking it," I said.
"Is what a question?" Daniel asked.
"If your brain hurts, does it hurt physically or mentally?"
"Seriously?" He asked. "Physically."
"Do dogs see police dogs and think 'Oh shit it's a cop'?" I asked.
"Babe, are you okay?" West asked, sitting beside me.
"She's been asking these questions all day," Nadia said.
"What app is she on?"
"Pinterest."
"And there's your source for all these questions," Daniel confirmed.
"Can touch screens feel us?"
"Okay, I'll take that." Jonah took my phone out of my hand and gave it to Daniel.
I laid on my back and started to ask more questions. "How do mermaids have babies."
"Is she sick or something?" West asked. He felt my forehead with the back of his hand.
"Why didn't Aladin have nipples?"
"Nope, this is just a weird day. She's had them a lot since you two came back from your anniversary thing."
"Why didn't Tarzan have a beard?"
"Nadia what did you put in her food?" Jack asked, looking at Nadia.
"Nothing!!" Nadia held her hands up in surrender.
"When I erase a word with a pencil, where does it go?"
The truth is, I'm trying to distract my mind. Ever since that phone call, I can't help but think the worst. Nobody knows what happened, I've not told them.
I got up off the couch and went into my room. I put my earphones in and started to draw. Besides music, I love drawing. It's just one more thing that gets my mind off things. Sometimes I don't even realize what I'm drawing until I'm done. This time, it was West.
It was a of a picture I took of him while we were at the park playing basketball one day.
I heard a knock on my door but kept drawing. "Come in."
"Hey, you okay?" Daniel asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be."
"You said your fine."
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"The scale goes great, good, okay, not okay, bad, terrible, then there's I'm fine."
"That's a vine."
"That wasn't the point. What's wrong?" Daniel sat down on my bed in front of me.
I took my headphones out but kept drawing. "West."
"What about him?"
"It's nothing, it's stupid, but it's bothering me. And I don't know why. It's just there, and I don't want it to be. My brain keeps going to the worst scenario and I don't want it to I want it to go to the best scenario and the best scenario is what we have right now but I'm ruining that because of my stupid brain and-"
"Hey, hey, hey, calm down," Daniel interrupted me. "Take a deep breath and tell me what happened."
And I told him everything. I didn't even realize I was crying until I felt a teardrop fall on my arm. I wiped my eyes and looked up. Daniel looked like he had just seen a ghost and he was getting angry.
"I don't know. My head is saying no, my heart is saying yes. And, West wouldn't do that. I don't know why I'm taking this all in and making it way worse than it probably is," I said. I took a few deep breaths and felt the bed shift beside me. I looked up and saw Daniel had moved.
"You'll be fine. He won't hurt you. He knows what you've been through before, he wouldn't recreate that."
He tried, I knew he didn't believe what he was saying. I leaned in and gave him a hug.
"Thank you, Daniel."
"No problem K. I gotta go, we have practice for tour so I'll see you later."
"Alright."
"Text me if you need me."
I nodded my head as Daniel closed the door. I laid back in my bed and closed my eyes. Sleep. It was what I needed right now.
