Daniel's POV
That mother- ugh! How could he do that? He's crossed the line. The fact that he is still continuing to do this is fucked. I went downstairs and saw everyone sitting on the couch watching TV except him.
"Where's West?" I asked. Welp, I tried to sound casual, don't think it worked.
"He went outside on the back porch," Nadia answered. "Why?"
"I just need to ask him a question." I went out the back door and saw West sitting on a pool chair, on his phone.
"What is wrong with you?" I yelled.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"You are still continuing to cheat on my best friend. She is getting upset because she knows you are, she's just not letting herself believe it."
"Fine then, maybe I should end it right now."
"Maybe you should."
"Great, where's Kourtney. Let's get this over with."
"Oh, hell to the damn no. You are not breaking up with her. Not on my watch."
"Do you want me to end it or not?"
"I didn't know a person could be as low as you." I went back inside and grabbed my stuff. I got into my car and left without an explanation.
-
Forty- five minutes later and I was hiking up a trail. I just needed to clear my mind. I come here a lot, sometimes I even see Kourtney come, but she never sees me. This place reminds me of her, obviously the incident.
I went to the edge and sat down, looking over into the ocean. This is the spot I write my songs. Not the band songs, my songs. That I don't share. I pulled my guitar out of its case, along with a pen and my notebook. I closed my eyes and started to sing.
Kourtney's POV
I woke up 30 minutes later because of a bang downstairs. It sounded like a door being slammed. So much for sleep. I went downstairs and everyone looked shocked.
"Where's Daniel?" I asked.
"He just left," Zach said.
"Yeah, he seemed pretty mad," Corbyn added.
"That's what that bang was," Jonah said.
"Oh, okay." I went upstairs and changed into a white/cream pull over jacket, some Nike leggings, and some tennis shoes. I grabbed a backpack and packed my notebook, pens, water, and some other things before going downstairs.
"Where are you going?" Nadia asked.
"I have to do something."
"What about West?" Corbyn questioned.
I looked out the window and saw West on his phone. I shook my head before saying, "Tell him something came up." I grabbed my keys and got into my car. I drove to the spot Daniel took me that day. It was special. I go there all the time. Sometimes I'll see Daniel, sitting near the edge, with his guitar, humming a song. He doesn't see me though. I always sit on the other side of the field.
-
I parked my car and got out. I grabbed my backpack and started the hike.
Thirty minutes later I was at the edge of the field. The grass here was so thick you could stand right beside somebody and them not know. I went to my normal spot and saw Daniel with his guitar, sitting near the edge.
I slowly crept over and heard him singing a song I've never heard before.
"I won't lie to you. I know he's just not right for you," he sang. "And you can tell me if I'm wrong but I see it on your face when you say that he's the one that you want."
I sat there and listened to him play the whole song.
Once he was done I slowly went back over to my spot and started to work on my song.
Daniel's POV
I knew Kourtney was behind me. I always knew when she was within 20 feet of me. I started playing the song I wrote, in honor of her, because I knew she would stay to listen.
Once I was don’t I heard Kourtney go back to her spot. This time I decided to follow her, see what she was up to.
I saw her playing with her guitar and she started to sing.
Once she was done I glanced beside her and saw her journal. The journal she wouldn't let anybody touch, not me, Nadia, the guys, her mom, Mason, nobody, touched that journal. I slowly turned around and started back to my things.
Kourtney's POV
"Bye Daniel."
Daniel stopped in his tracks before slowly turning around.
"Sorry, I saw you and came to say hi and then I heard you but I didn't know if you wanted it to be heard or not so I tried to lea-"
"Your song was good. I really liked it," I interrupted him.
Daniel gave me a small smile before turning back around and going back to his spot. I put my stuff back in my backpack and laid on my back, looking at the sky.
