This ought to be called "Verity's Procrastination Book -- in which she does fun stuff with her characters instead of actually writing about them".

I decided I wanted to do the strengths/weaknesses tag with a couple more characters, some of my less developed ones, so as to define them a little better. For those of you who don't know, this tag is where you evaluate your character by listing their strengths and weaknesses to see whether they are actually a well-balanced human... or some angel-dwarf-elf-dragon hybrid who can control the four elements and is utterly invincible. And don't forget beautiful.

Derek Winston ***last name undergoing possible change do not think it is necessarily permanent okay? okay*** General of Orden

Strengths: He is compassionate, tender; he always sees the individual, and is rarely bound by stereotypes. Intelligent, well-educated. He is a humble man, and yet not afraid to use the authority that he has by reason of his status. His sense of justice is uncompromising, yet tempered by his gentleness and his love. He has deep and perceptive intuition, aiding him in the understanding of people. He is also incredibly charismatic: a look or a word from him is enough to make men bound to him for life.

Weaknesses: He may rely too heavily on his intuition in judgment. While it is easy for him to support and strengthen others, he has difficulty analyzing his own emotional troubles and dealing with them, so he pushes them to the side, all the more as he finds himself busy with all the duties in his life. He has difficulty recognizing his own need for physical rest, and with his many obligations can overtask himself. Although he rarely yields to it because he recognizes the need for justice, he will find himself wanting to rule for greater leniency than is perhaps wise. He prefers not to confront others with their own weaknesses.

(Guys, I hated writing the weaknesses paragraph. I'm half in love with the General (it's the charisma, okay?) and feel like not recognizing his bad traits. HE'S PERFECT (please tell me he's not too perfect) (I feel like he's too perfect))

Derek Kenhelm (incidentally named after the General)

Strengths: He is quick with mechanical tasks, physically fit and has a remarkable ability with the longbow and any kind of knife. He is witty and lighthearted, a ready teaser. His affection is quick and very strong and deep; he is fiercely loyal and protective. He has high self-motivation.

Weaknesses: His teasing can occasionally come off as rude or unfeeling (it's rough, people). He is impatient and impulsive, and easily annoyed; is frustrated by his own shortcomings. He hates forced inactivity or being cooped up anywhere, which contributes to a dislike of study. He does not like to talk about anything bothering him, partly out of a fear to upset or worry his family. Like his other emotions, his anger comes hard. It is dangerously fierce and often long-lasting: while it may not manifest itself at once, it smoulders hotter and hotter under the surface and will lead him to do irrational things, not because he has lost his reason but simply because he does not care any more, and has to do something to let it out.

(Corhin from FitD is weirdly similar to Derek in some ways... I just noticed this.)

Douglas Kenhelm

Strengths: An excellent swordsman(he was trained by both Berethar of Mycraí and Jedediah Crayes). Very intelligent and discerning. A courteous young man; has an almost unshakeable good humour and tolerance. Does not rush impetuously into anything. Approaches life with eagerness and excitement.

Weaknesses: His happy attitude can be easily quenched in the face of trial. Faced with a choice of several options, he has a hard time choosing which one to follow. If trapped in a long-term difficult situation, he is more likely to passively accept it than try to find a solution. In a matter of higher stakes, he will hope for a way out, but if none comes he will fall quickly into despair. While he is good at thinking things out beforehand, he is not the best thinker "on his feet".
