Two cool people I've met on here, DarkPH0T0N and medievalmaide715 have answered these questions from an atheist to Christians. I thought it would be a good idea to do the same. The questions come from an Wattpad book called Atheism: The Ultimate Guide.
What's the best part about being religious?
It gives me hope and peace when nothing else can. I have assurance of an omnipotent God who will judge rightly and loves with an everlasting love, and I have hope beyond the grave, when I will see my Redeemer as he is.
What's the worst part about being religious?
This is a ridiculously hard question to answer. I have been blessed to grow up in an amazing environment with loving family and church members, and I have no complaints to make about the "religious" aspect of my life.
Will have to fall back on DarkPH0T0N's game of sarcasm. I really hate when there's too many desserts at the fellowship meals and my bird-sized stomach can't pick all of them.
What makes it so easy to dismiss scientific theories that have so much evidence that they're accepted as fact by the scientific community?
I have two little problems with this question. 1) You can not actually accept a theory as fact. I just learned this in my biology class recently. You can formulate a hypothesis, which can become a theory, which can become a scientific law, but there is always the possibility it will be disproven if contrary evidence turns up. One of the shortcomings of the scientific method. XD However, I see his point, and I will concede it for the sake of argument.
Problem 2) You're assuming it is easy. Well, for impressionable people like me it isn't always. I am all too easily swayed by whatever I'm reading/watching/viewing.
However, (to now answer the question) in such cases as you mean, I usually find there is evidence to my point of view which the scientific community overlooks. If not, then all I can say is, I trust my God and His Word. Explanations will be found, and if not in my lifetime than in that of others. When the theory of evolution was propounded in the late 18- early 1900s, it seemed to be supported by a great amount of evidence and an incredible number of Christians were shaken and swayed, but others held fast and trusted that the Bible would triumph, and they were borne out in the years ahead.
Have you successfully converted anyone?
*triggers* I don't convert, God does.
Sorry, I know what you mean. I am not as bold in sharing my faith as I would like to be, but I have tried, and I think that I have at least been instrumental in motivating another person to attend church more regularly. I cannot say for sure that I have helped to lead anyone to the Lord, but I don't know what seeds I may have unconsciously planted.
Do you or your family have any restrictions or rules for religious reasons?
No sin.
If only it were that easy...
To be a little more specific, we do not permit rude language (i.e. those little cuss words that Wattpad puts little exclamation points above comments that contain them) or blasphemous language (language deriding or trivializing God). We don't permit unkind language like "I hate you" or "you're stupid", in order to build each other up rather than tear each other down. We steer clear of immodest clothing, lest we excite lust.
