The small black pup whined, crying for his father. To his dismay his father didn't come running toward him like he usually did. He tried wailing louder to get his father's attention but it wasn't working.

Suddenly light shinned in his face as a door opened in front of him. He looked up, his pale eyes struggling to adjust. He tilted his head and whimpered.

"Mama," called a lanky boy in German as he lowered down and stroked the pup between the ears.

An older women pushed forward and looked over her son's shoulder. She pointed toward the puppy. The boy picked up the pup and ran his fingers through it's damp fur. He said some more gibberish in German.

His mother nodded and stretched out a shaky hand to stroke the pup. "What are you going to name him," asked his mother.

The boy lifted the pup to his eye level and smiled broadly. "Tony," he replied as he set down the pup and tried to cradle him. "His name will be Tony."
