Chapter 80

He had his back faced to me looking like he was about to leave. Too late now.

Once I said his name, he visibly froze, his back is still faced to me, and as he slowly turns around I see that his eyes are red, as if he was crying, but he wouldn't...would he?

He now faced me completely.

"Jax?" I repeated. I closed the door behind me, walking outside.

He opened his mouth as if he was going to say something. Then he closed it.

"Jax are you okay? Were you crying?" I stepped forward and cupped my hands around his cheeks looking at his red rimmed eyes.

He nodded still not saying anything. He breathed out and I could see a small puff come from his mouth, it was late and cold outside.

"What's wrong, why were you crying?" I probably looked confused as ever. I was freezing, considering I had already changed into pajamas and was now wearing a tank top and checkered pajama pants.

He closed his eyes and breathed out one more time before opening them again. He put his hands on my wrists and removed my hands from his face.

He opened his mouth, "I-It it would mean everything to me." I must have looked confused as ever.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Earlier, you asked me what it would mean to me if you said yes, if you said yes to us being something. So right now...I-I'm saying that it would mean everything to me." He was looking me in the eyes and his blue ones looked darker in the night.

"But, what-"

"Kayla, who is-" Andrew opened the door and saw Jax "...it." Jax looked over to him.

"Oh, sorry, I'll let you two talk." Andrew said before going back inside.

"Jax." He instantly looked down at me and put a hand to my cheek. I flinched. He must have noticed because he backed away, lowering his hand. His face faded.

"You know what? This was stupid." He began to back up. "I-I'll see you tomorrow, at school."

"Jax wait." I put my hand out towards his arm but he quickly moved away.

"No, it's okay, I'm fine. I guess we can wait to talk." And then he was gone.

I stood there in the same place.

What the hell just happened?

I shook myself away from my thoughts focusing more on the now.

I slowly walked over to the door still having thoughts running through my mind. Pushing them to the side, I put on a smile.

Andrew was there waiting by the door.

"So?" He crossed his arms over his chest.

"So?" I questioned back not understanding.

"What happened, are you two a thing yet? We want to know!" He was excited- what even?

"We, who's we?" I asked.
