Chapter 56
I entered through our front door as I heard yelling in from the kitchen, as I walked closer and closer to the yelling it became clearer who it was.
"Mom, dad? What are you doing here?" I asked walking in the kitchen making both of them turn their heads to me.
"Oh, hi sweetie, we're just visiting for a couple of days then we have to go back to work." My mom said walking over to me giving me a small hug. My dad just continued to stare at me, he looked angry yet at the same time he looked surprised.
"Hey dad." I greeted giving him a smile. He just nodded his head at me then turned his head back to my mother.
"Uh, Carin can you let me have a word with our daughter?" Asked my dad and my mom gave a quick nod then exited the kitchen.
"Hi." I said unsure of what he wanted to talk about. I heard the upstairs door shut which meant that my mom couldn't hear us.
"So, were you going to tell us that you would be home late?" He questioned taking a step closer to me. Me being clearly confused sent him a strange look.
"It's 3:12 I'm home early by two minutes." I reasoned but he just looked even angrier.
"That's still late." He said raising his voice a little.
"Ok, I'm sorry." I grunted annoyed with the little conversation he wanted to have.
"Your sorry? That's all? No, that doesn't make up for how irresponsible you are!" He shouted making me flinch at how loud he got.
"I'm sorry, it won't happen-" I spoke but couldn't finish when he continued to yell at me and I felt a pain. I instantly move my hand to my cheek feeling it warm up from the pain.
"This is why you shouldn't be late, now next time listen to what I have to say!" He shouted again slapping me once again making me fall to the ground at the sudden impact. He continuously continued to beat me; kicking and slapping me as I promised myself not to cry, not to show him any type of weakness.
I blinked trying to get the memories out of my head, trying not to remember everything this man did.
"What are you doing here?" Questioned nick as I got behind him as he instructed. I blinked twice making sure this was reality and sure enough it was.
"This is my house, I can come here whenever I want." He said making another handful of memories come back to me.
"Why are you actually here?" Nick questioned once agin crossing his arms and looking the man right in the eyes.
"I came to talk to you two." He said moving eyes towards me and smirking, I hated that smirk. That smirk nearly put me in a hospital.
"Ok, but if we talk, we're all in the same room, you don't get to be alone with her." Nick stated making it clear that he couldn't come anywhere near me.
"Ok." He nodded as we stepped foot into the house that once felt safe to me. As we came in Nick made sure that I was in front of him and that he could see me, making sure that I was okay.
"So how have you two been?" The man asked as if he actually cared.
"Better." Answered Nick knowing that I was still questioning this whole thing.
"Why d-don't w-we just get um, straight to the point?" I asked out of the blue, looking down and not looking anywhere near this monster.
Remember Kayla, don't show weakness.
