Chapter 52
(Previously)

"And here we are." Jax said as he parked the car in the driveway of a house. Let's just say when I looked up, I did not expect this.

(Now)

I looked up to see a humongous house, I even think it was as big as mine, and that's saying a lot. His parents must be like mine, well they might be here more often but we'll see, the important thing is to remember that I came here to talk with him, not look at how big his hour is or wonder about his family.

Focus Kayla, you got this.

"You just gonna stand there?" Jax chuckled making me realize that I had zoned out for a minute. "Ha, come on, lets go inside." He said as he walked up to the front steps.

"Uh- sure." I said snapping out of whatever that was and following him inside.

"So this is my house, kitchen is over there, that's the living room, and we have my room, down here." He said gesturing to different places then going to what I think was the basement to show me his room.

"Cool. Didn't you say you had a sister and a brother or something?" I asked following him downstairs.

"Oh, so you listen? Yeah, I have an older brother who should be here any minute and my little sister is spending the night at a friends house." He babbled walking into he room and flickering the light switch on.

"So this is your room?" I asked looking around.

"Yup, now, can we talk?" He asked taking a seat on his bed.

"I guess, what did you want to know?" I asks taking a seat next to him to where my back was up against the headboard of the bed.

"Well, I wanted to know, why are you mad at Chase?" He asked not sure of himself. I knew the answer, but honestly, I didn't want Jax to know about my weird boy drama.

"I was mad at him because, he got mad at me, and I was annoyed with him because it was over nothing." I replied stopping at that point leaving out the part where we fought about Aaron.

"What was the argument over? Why was he angry?" Gosh, Jax just didn't want to stop with the questions.

"The argument was over Aaron, since you told him about us in the spare bedroom he got the wrong idea, I honestly don't know why he was angry it wasn't his business." I shrugged hoping that he wouldn't ask any further questions on this topic.

"Okay, what about you and-" He began before I cut him off.

"Can we just, talk about something other than Chase and Aaron, I really don't wanna talk about them right now, please?" I asked wanting to move on form this.

"Ok, why were you mad at me?" He asked being the oblivious person he is.

"You really don't know?" I asked annoyed at how he didn't know.

"I don't." He answered looking at me with curious eyes.

"I was mad at you because... when you- when you were trying to pull me back to Chase that day in the cafeteria, it m-made me remember things t-that I didn't want to remem-remember." I said trying to take deep breaths.

"What did you remember?" He asked looking me in the eyes concerned.

"I remembered things that happened with my-my parents and m-my bother." I said feeling tears sting my eyes at the memories, Jax doesn't know about my other bother Brandon, I don't want him to but I think I need to tell him.

It's okay Kayla, just take your time. And don't cry.

"So something happened between you, your parents, and Nick?" He asked clueless of what I was actually talking about.

"Yeah, but n-not with Nick, with B-Brandon-"

"Who's Brandon?"

"I'll get to that, just, lets me finish." I said pausing before continuing. "So, as I said, something happened between my parents Brandon and I, something big... my parents, well particularly my dad, he got angry, because the business wasn't really doing well, when he got angry, he- he took it out on... he took it out on me and Brandon, Nick was never there because he was always at his friends house, but me and Brandon were always there. M-my dad he-"

"He beat you?" He asked taking the words out of my mouth. I slowly nodded and he instantly pulled me in for a hug.

"Jax, I'm not finished." I continued pulling away, "My dad, yeah, he beat me, the reason I'm mad at you is because when you were pulling my arm-"

"I hurt you? Oh god, Kayla in so sorry, I was being stupid, and trying to get you to talk to Chase. I'm so sorry."

"It's okay, I know you didn't mean to, it's just that... all of those memories came back when you did that, and-"

"Wait- you never told me who Brandon is."

"He's- was, my brother." I said still trying to hold in tears. "He... he was my twin."

"Wh-what happened to him." He stuttered not sure if he should ask.
I took in a deep breath letting it out slowly then saying,

"He died, he had a brain tumor, he was depressed, I wasn't with him, I wasn't there, and he overdosed, he didn't even say goodbye." My voice got lower with each word and my eyes started to blur but I didn't cry.

"Kay, I had no idea. I'm so sorry-"

"You don't have to be sorry, it wasn't your fault, it's in the past and I have to get over it."

"Kay, there are some things people just can't get over, this is one of them."

"Thanks. I needed to hear that." I said quietly looking down.

"Kay, I'm sorry, I don't know know what to say."

"You don't need to say anything. Just be there, be here." I said sniffing after I realized that a single tear went down my face.

"Come here." He said pulling me in for a hug, "Why don't you call Nick tell him that your gonna be home a little latter and we can watch a movie, get your mind off things." He suggested giving me a quick hug and rubbing my back soothingly.

"I'd like that." I replied looking up at him with a small smile.

"Alright, I'll make some popcorn, you pick the movie." He said as we made our way back upstairs.

"Hey bro, I need to borrow- who is this cute thang?"

Oh no.
