I looked out the window
and my Daddy held up his hand
and made the sign that
means 'I love you'
and I smiled
and held my hand up
to the window
and made the same sign
and the car pulled away
and to this day
I don't know what was happening
or what events surrounded this
but I look back
and feel like I did then
because in that moment
I felt truly loved.
