I could tell you that I love road trips
But you wouldn't understand
How my window frames the shot perfectly
And the radio is always playing the right song
Beautifully choreographed cinematography
That wasn't choreographed at allI could tell you that I love trains
But you wouldn't understand
How ever since I was old enough to bike to the tracks alone
They have represented to me an escapism of last resort
Because if I ever have nothing
At least I'll have a way outIf I had a canvas
Or if I could draw
I'd try to explain what it's like to look at a mirror in the middle of the night when you can't sleep
And see someone you don't recognize
You're not even sure she's there
I touch my face
And the wide-eyed stranger touches hersI could've taken a picture
Of my sister
As she stood in the living room
Dressed in a tutu
And sang me the song she'd been working on
But perfect timing
And perfect lighting
Could never show you how really beautiful she is
There's a lot of moments I never take pictures of
Because they're just too precious
Too wild
Too free
To captureIf I had the money
Or the skills
I'd show you the world the way I saw it
But I have no money
And very few skills
But I have notebook paper
Pencils
And poetry
